OCTOBER IS ADOPT-A-DOG MONTH

According the The American Humane Association, October is Adopt-A-Dog Month.

When I was ready to accept full responsibility for a pet, another life, I never – ever thought about adoption. My ignorance to how many dogs were waiting for a good loving home is what led me to a fabricated breeder (puppy mill factory in disguise), where I met 9 week old Harley…

That’s lil’ Harley-Darley enjoying his first spring!

That experience armed me (slightly) three years later with the “where with all” to research, interview, and check references on several breeders before bringing Leo home…

Knowing what I know now about rescues and shelters, if ever given the living space and resources for a 3rd dog to love, I wouldn’t hesitate to “adopt vs. shop.”

So many wonderful dogs have been separated from families and homes that they loved at no fault of their own. There are countless stories of dogs/puppies of all ages, breeds, sizes, etc…that have given their new rescued angels more love, loyalty, and devotion then their new families have ever known.

Have you ever thought about adopting a dog? No, really have you?

What Can An Adopted Dog Bring To Your Life?

There are as many responses to that question as there are dogs in this world! That’s why — during American Humane Association’s Adopt-A-Dog Month celebration in October — we’re encouraging people to adopt a rescue or shelter dog and experience the joy of finding their own answers.

Dogs are so special – they are wonderful companions.

An adopted dog can be all these things — and so much more!

Your local shelter is the perfect place to find dogs of every type, size, age and personality — all waiting for a loving home. Or, if you prefer a particular breed that isn’t currently available at a shelter, go online to find a breed-specific rescue group in need of adopters like you.

Find out what a shelter or rescue dog can bring to your life this October during Adopt-A-Dog Month.

I’m telling you, having a dogs ruv in your life is certainly worth a paw bump (says Leo)…
