On Tuesday, Harley and I will sit together proudly and watch the Veterans Day Parade. I will watch it thinking and remembering the many military men and women I have been blessed to know and admire throughout Doodle Dad’s many years in the United States Army.
Harley will wear his U.S.A. hat and watch with me because for the first time, war hardened canines will have their very own float at the Veterans Day Parade in New York City!…
Since April the American Humane Association — along with Mission K9 Rescue and the US War Dogs Association — has facilitated the reunion of 20 retired military dogs with their loving human veterans.
For the first time, six of these heroic duos will be honored on a float in the Veterans Day Parade this Tuesday…
A detection dog whose job was to sniff out IED’s in Afghanistan..
A military police dog for two years in Japan…
A contract working dog for four years in Afghanistan.
Worked with some of the first Marines in Marajah, Afghanistan…
An Army military police dog for nearly five years…
Detected explosives in Afghanistan…

That is super cool the dogs will be in the parade! We used to have retired explosive sniffing dogs in the neighborhood, but they moved away.
