THE PETBOX CAME | MONDAY MISCHIEF

By Monday, January 26, 2015 22 , , , Permalink

So the PetBox came the other day. The doorbell rang as I was about to head up the stairs. I thanked the nice mailman, tossed the box on the floor and continued on my original mission. Harley runs up after me and glares at me for a few minutes as if to say “hey, you, human – the PetBox came.”

Then he was gone.

Minutes later I heard what sounded like the sequel to the movie “Ben” (Michael Jackson and a dozen sewer rats) Harley had vanished without me knowing and decided to open the box himself #oratleasttry

Of course, by the time I retrieved my camera, he was fully aware of his audience, and stopped all activity. #smartdoodle

If he was a two legged 6 year old I would have yelled, made a scene, placed the box on a high shelf and sent the child to his room for 30 minutes. But because it was Harley, I smiled, stopped what I was doing and  agreed to open it. #whatswrongwithme?

Looking for scissors (I can never keep up with them) I tossed the box on the couch, and before I could return, he was at it again #determineddoodle

DTERMINED

Something was in there – he could smell it – he wanted it – he wanted it bad…

1

As soon as I lifted the lid – he was all over it. I pulled everything out curious to see what he was so desperately trying to find…

2

So let’s examine this months treasures –

Bow-Wow Pet Ruff & Tuff Snake they say this is chew resistant #wewillsee They advertise it as a versatile toy you can fetch – tug – toss and play. I love the color. I’ll let you know how long it lasts!…

3

Pet Speak Long Neck makes 10 inch vinyl toys with a catchy phrase in front and an squeaker inside. Harley seems to like the long neck on the cow cause that’s what he’s been using to carry it around the house. I crack up when I read the phrase #dontjudgeme

4

Smart N’ Tasty Twizzies have been in our home before…

5

…they have limited ingredients, they’re all natural and free of grain, gluten, dairy, and soy. High in  protein and 100% digestible. Harley becomes doodlelirious when he sees them. This was a first with the “Turducky” flavor. #bighit I like them because they never upset his tummy, there’s no foul odor or staining AND it takes him forever to eat a piece. The Seafood Medley treats…

9

…are made with real salmon and tuna or shrimp and fish. Healthy crunchy treats that also promote clean teeth. It’s an excellent dental alternative for dogs with sensitive teeth or gums.

There was a sample of Evanger’s Chicken with Brown Rice Dry Dog Food in our box also. While I’ve heard good things about Evanger’s, you know how we are about Harley’s food, so even though it’s just a sample bag, we will add it to our box of “goodness” that we take either to the vet or the shelter to donate…

6

I can honestly say – Praire Nature Bison Chewies

7

& Copper Classics Beef Ears

8

are two delicacies (to my knowledge) Harley has not experienced yet. While the Bison Chewies sound doodle*licious (from a dogs perspective) there isn’t much info from the website about the Beef Ears. I’m not saying I’m not going to give them a try, I’m just saying I’ll have to get back to you on these two. Anybody out there with any feedback for a nervous Doodle Mom whose not very adventurous when it comes to “new foods?”

Every month we look forward to a mix of healthy treats, toys, and accessories for Harley to enjoy, if you’ve never experienced PetBox – give it a try – it’s easy…

PUBLIC-ANNOUNCEMENT

Now –  what was in the box causing Harley to have a conniption?

I think that would make my dogs go a little nutty, too!

I’d love to hear the results of the chew test on the toys — the snake in particular. It’s hard to find a toy that hold up to my heavy chewers.

Susan, here’s my take on the snake LOL – it’s made so tight and firm Harley may loose interest in it. I think it’s an excellent toy for outdoors – It throws really well, and Harley has shown great interest lately in “fetch” I will definitely keep you posted for sure!

HAAA!! The box delivery is a big deal at our house now. I got a box of books delivered last week and Dash FOLLOWED ME AROUND THE HOUSE!! Are you going to open it? He kept nudging me. When I finally opened it, poor guy. He sniffed to the bitter end… I had to get him a treat. Dash gets the runs from those beef ears. He loves them but we pay .. Lilly does great with them. Is Harley’s tummy sensitive? Beware! Great post!

I will try the bison Deirdre, but I believe I’d better stay far away from those ears. Harley’s got a english Bulldog buddy who would do back flips for it – so we’ll hold it for him.

Yes he certainly did – Talent Hounds, he knew it immediately!

We get stuff and sometimes I’m not allowed to have it for days…so unfair! Mom learned she can’t leave it on the floor at our house because even if us dogs leave it alone, cat bro Bert eats through cardboard like a chainsaw and destroys our stuff, so she puts it under lock and key.

Emma tell your mom she’s got the right idea. I have never seen Harley work so hard on a box like that before. He is certainly escalating his activity when it comes to opening up boxes.

What a great pile of loot. No wonder Harley couldn’t wait to get into that box (and I would have opened it instead of sending him to his room as well 🙂 I can’t wait to hear the report on how long the cute purple snake lasts!

A few people are interested in the life of the snake So far the cow has his attention, but since it’s vinyl I don’t see it surviving long LOL Then I think the snake will be his next target / victim. I’ll keypad posted 🙂

That’s a nice pile of loot! Ears tend to be fatty so Mr. N doesn’t get them.

    • Cathy Bennett
      January 27, 2015

Tell Mr. N. Harley has never had ears and I don’t believe we’re going to start. He has a furrend who lives down the street that loves anything beef, so we’re going to surprise her with the beef ears. Thanks for letting me know that they’re fatty. I wasn’t aware.

Great review Harley! That is too funny you want to open your box up right away. I mean, how can your mom blame you anyways?! The cow is hilarious and Shiner is jealous she got the teeth spray instead of that snake! 😉 Those Bison Chewies looked OK to us and OMD the smell when you open that bag will blow you away.

    • Cathy Bennett
      January 27, 2015

Oh no Ann, do the Chewies really smell? I was afraid of that. I’m not even going to try the Beef Ear, I’m going to share that one with a mini Dachshund who loves anything beef. Thanks for the heads up.

I hope the snake lasts longer for you than it did us! It was a 2 minute deal. LOL!

      January 27, 2015

Oh no Lauren, say it isn’t so. We had something similar once, and the edge started to unravel and let’s just say it was the beginning of the end… I’ll keep you posted.

Yeppers – poop certainly does happen 🙂 It’s always fun sitting on the floor and going through the box of goodness together. Thanks for stopping by J – Hows Glory? She’s been on my mind, hope she’s doing well.

What a lot of great stuff! Rita gets so excited when boxes arrive, even if it’s just something boring for me! She’d go absolutely nuts if a box like that arrived for her!

    • Cathy Bennett
      January 27, 2015

Oh Jackie, you should give it a whirl – try it – at least once. I really like it because I am not usually in pet stores often, and when I am, I never seem to buy the right thing! This way, I’m learning about toys, treats and accessories I wouldn’t have tried or tested before. I also get a kick out of having a mini Christmas once a month too:)
