The Urban Walk’r leash by Wacky Walk’r has revolutionized my walks with Jaxson…
I am no longer the talk of the neighborhood. #theyusedtostareatme
Have you ever witnessed a dog walking a human? Have you ever been that human?
You know the scene – the dog is approximately 3.5 feet in front of the human. He’s panting, pulling, and you can see the collar stretching from the back of his neck.
The human – has this crazed look on her face, her eyes are bulging, head bobbing up and down as she tries to stop but can’t. Her arm is stretched as far as it can go, there’s nothing else to give other than her arm dislocating from her shoulder.
That was me!
It was a sight. I was exhausted when I finally got home.
So when Wacky Walk’r offered to send me the Urban Walk’r I was like –
Send it – and hurry!
WHAT MAKES IT SPECIAL –
The Urban Walk’r I have is the shorter “no pull” leash. It’s 3 feet long but stretches to 4.5 feet, and has the ability to reduce Jaxson’s pulling power by 50% #nojoke
Made out of natural rubber latex Jaxson has no interest in chewing on it. There’s also a secondary “traffic” handle which offers additional control for me when we’re walking around the congested streets of Downtown Charleston…
The leash comes in 3 sizes for dogs 5 – 200 lbs, and is available in 8 colors. The Boys have the appropriate lengths for their sizes…
I fell in love with the orange because it’s so bright and cheerful. I’ve also seen the pink, and its “hot.” Just not for my Boys.
WHAT A DIFFERENCE A LEASH MAKES –
It is impossible for me to quantify the number of leashes I’ve got tossed in the spare closet floor. I see one I like, then I fall for the hype that this is the one to solve my pulling problem. But it always turns out to be a bust and in the cemetery of leashes it goes to die with the others.
Harnesses didn’t work for two reasons:
- he continued to pull
- it matted the stomach hairs all-the-time
You might remember our blog post about the Wacky Walk’r balls. This was the strangest looking ball I’d ever seen and months later they are still in tack and continue to entertain Jaxson for hours. He can’t get enough of them.
Because of the balls I decided to go for the leash. Best move I’ve ever made…
HOW LONG DID IT TAKE? –
The first day, Jaxson tried to pull. Quickly he realized something was different. By the end of that same walk, he continued to try but relented and waited for me.
Each day got easier and better. By the weeks end, I was hooked. Squirrels, lost tennis balls, swirling leaves in the breeze still caught his eye and caused him to “attempt” a good leap, but that’s about all it was – an attempt.
Although we live “downtown” it’s a residential area. To give this leash a true test I needed to take them downtown with all the traffic ( humans, cars, and pets).
Piece of cake!
Those deceased leashes in the closet can now go to the Charleston Animal Shelter. I cannot see myself going back to another leash.
Did I tell you they also float? Can’t wait to try them out at the beach with #dolphindoodle
