As I stood in the middle of the street with the Boys and hundreds of others I couldn’t help but feel as if I was in the midst of history – in the making.
The Charleston City Council unanimously approved a recent resolution to rename two blocks for the slain members of “Mother” Emanuel AME Church…
This unfathomable act of violence shook the entire world, and it rocked the walls of Doodleville because this is Doodle Dad’s family church. I learned something new that night about a dogs intuitiveness.
Nine people were shot and killed the evening of June 17th when a gunman opened fire during a Bible study session.
Wednesday the streets and church steps were once again swollen with people…
…they gathered to see the new sign and hear from church officials and Mayor Riley…
As always, Harley & Jax brought smiles and light laughter to those struggling with the memories of that unforgettable night…
Mayor Riley (center) and Councilman Wendell G. Gilliard made their way over to meet the two four legged spectators…
The world witnessed something wonderful about Charleston #myhappyplace after the 17th. They watched an entire community –
- epitomize the meaning of love thy neighbor
- demonstrate how to support one another
- show us all true forgiveness
As the crowd started to disappear, I took this picture of Harley sitting by the church wall…
If I didn’t know any better, I’d think he was praying for a more united nation – one full of peace, love and harmony.
Can we all share his prayer?
Have a wonderful weekend -and be kind to someone along the way.

How beautiful to see a community rally and heal together. Your two fit right in, and I’ll bet they did help to ease some at least some of the pain people were feeling as they thought about everything they lost.

That was our goal Jean – I hope we were successful…

Thanks Jean – I hope to get them more involved with the children of the community still reeling from the aftermath of this devastating tragedy

Truly lovely post. Like you, I’m praying for a more civilized world where love is the fiber moving through the community rather than hatred and sadness. Fingers and paws crossed. 🙂
