NEW YEAR’S RESOLUTIONS

By Friday, January 2, 2015 14 No tags Permalink

It’s here! 2105!  The Christmas decorations are coming down, GPS systems are navigating families back home from holiday vacay’s and children across the country are dreading the thought of returning to school on Monday. So what’s next you might ask? Well, grab a beverage and let’s talk about those New Year’s Resolutions.

A resolution is when a person makes a promise to do an act of self-improvement or something slightly nice, generally beginning on New Years Day…

I’m twice (pawhaps three times) as guilty as the next person when it comes to first of the year promises.  I can’t begin to confess the number of resolutions I’ve successfully failed. I think my biggest flaw was trying to outline a plan in the first place…

This year – I came up with an outstanding idea. Why not help “someone else” with their resolutions? Think about it – if I assisted in the “self-improvement” of a furrend – could I not share in that accomplishment?

Here’s my master plan:

  • I will partner with Harley
  • I can help him set reasonable goals and objectives.
  • Together (with me as his motivational coach) he is destined to succeed.
  • I’ve got a New Years Resolution in place, and I don’t have to change my life style much at all.

Sounds like a “win-win” to me 🙂

Here’s a few we can start working on immediately #notimelikethepresent

LIKE –

1. Pretending to be “Helpless Harley” making your human sibling hold the food bowl for you #really?

2. Allowing the other dogs to win a wrestling romp once in a while. There’s nothing wrong with your furrends having a taste of victory from time to time #thugdoodle

3. Being more cooperative during a photo shoot and not turn your back on the ever so patient photographer #divodoodle

4. Sleeping in your own bed, and giving the pet parental units a break once in a while #bedhoggingdoodle

5. Surprise the “doodle” out of the Doodle Mom and actually come the FIRST time she calls you #stubborndoodle

6. WALKING when Doodle Mom says walk! #halleDOODLElujah

Tell me – be honest too, do you think these are unreasonable expectations?

Trust me, I know I’m taking on a lot, but my mantra has always been “keep hope alive!” so I’ll just keep on hoping!

It’s a new year so be kind to someone and as always, thank you so very much for sharing me with all your friends!

We do the recall differently at my house. Mom says come and we run away as fast as we can! Well, little Bailie usually comes on the first or second call, but Katie taught me to always disobey that command. I think you can work on some of those other resolutions like posing with your face for your photographer 😉

Hey Emma, I would take “anything” – I’m not rushing though, the way I see it, I’ve got 12 months 🙂

I think those are reasonable expectations….but I also think you have your work cut out for you!! BOL! So good luck, and we’ll enjoy reading about your progress!

I did about 50% on the resolutions I made last year for myself and the dogs. This year I’m only making a couple for myself (get more organized and take better photos). Other than that we’ll just keep plugging along on trying to be better and healthier people/dogs!

Jan K I am going to be perfectly honest with you! Nothing on this list will change – believe me when I tell you. Oh, we’ll have some fun trying to make it work, but I’m not holding my breath! However, there may be room for just a little improvement – we’ll see!

I think I’d like to convince Shiner that #6 should be her New Year’s resolution! BOL

I agree Ann – #6 is something I think he does just to see my facial expressions change!

Mr. N is actually pretty good with most of those except for the bed hogging part but he doesn’t take up “that” much space. The boyfriend would like for him to stop stealing his pillows though. Now if I could just convince Mr. N that he doesn’t need to say hello to every single dog…

But Mr. N is so social. That’s what makes him “him” 🙂 Harley doesn’t care about the pillows, he’s more into the entire bed!

But no matter what happens with you resolutions, Harley is still adorable!!!!

Hi Cathy. That’s admirable that you are working on New Year’s Resolutions with Harley. Very cute post.

Great idea to help Harley with his resolutions. (As you know from my post, we are doing it the other way around and Rita is helping me with mine!) Some of those are pretty darn funny. (#thugdoodle!) Maybe it’s too much though – sounds like me in years past (Eat less sugar, Work out more, Be nicer!, Stress less, etc. etc. etc.!) Maybe you should just pick one! 🙂

Jackie – I am the exact same way – always trying to accomplish “way” too much. This year I’m giving each resolution about a month. We’re gonna “hit it and quit it” because at the end of the day, I appreciate him – just as he is 🙂 But I thought I would at least try (a girl can dream right?) Take care!
