INTERNATIONAL DOODLE DOG DAY

By Monday, May 7, 2018 8 No tags Permalink

I had high expectations for our 2nd Annual International Doodle Dog Day celebration…

Sunday I planned a “fun in the sun” celebratory Doodle Romp day with a few South Carolina Doodles.

Two Doods – Ripley + Rue created this holiday in 2017 with the help of thousands of Doodles around the globe in over 10 major cities!

More cities jumped on board this year and I was pretty excited about it myself.

I was anxious to meet some of the Doodle pawrents I’ve been communicating with through social media, and spend a few hours watching the Boys have some fun.

But it never happened.

TIRES NEED AIR –

The day started out great…

But quickly my plans started to change. Apparently, my tire befriended a nail from the construction in front of our house. By the time I’d driven about 5 miles, things took a turn for the worst.

Tire pressure warnings started blinking on my dashboard and the PSI numbers were declining rapidly. I swung into a gas station and put air in the tire.

The air gushed out again.

God bless Walmart. They were three blocks away and my four quarters purchased enough air to get us there…

They were speedy, courteous and reasonably priced, but by the time they were finished my event was over.

I felt as if I’d failed them and their special day.

MY BACK-UP PLAN –

A tad disappointed in the events of my afternoon, we completed a few errands and then headed back to the hacienda.

After dinner, I grabbed a few balls and we headed to our special place down the street. I figured I could salvage some of the day by letting them romp together off leash for a while…

Shortly after we arrived, lil’ people gravitated over to us…

to play…

with the Boys…

Everyone had a Doodle*tastic time…

LESSON LEARNED –

Pawhaps my revelation occurred as I tossed the ball back and forth, or maybe when the children joined our lil’ pawty   – but sometime between all of that I realized Harley nor Jaxson need a special day.

Don’t get me wrong, I think it’s an honor to have a day dedicated for others to recognize just you! And we were overwhelmed to be included in Spencer the Goldendoodle‘s blog post…

But even with all my best laid plans unaccomplished – I learned a valuable lesson. Every single day with them and a ball, some grass – and if we’re lucky…. a couple of lil people and it’ll feel like Doodle Dog Day all the time.

ONE MORE THING –

Only two more days remaining to sign up for the Wacky Walk’r Urban Leash give away…

Monday – the beginning of anything you want ❤

It looked rather dismal initially, but at the end of the day – it was all good!

You’re so right, any day can be doodle-iscous if you make it happen! I’m sorry you didn’t get to play with all the other Doods you hoped to meet up with but the day seemed pretty spectacular to me! Glad they enjoyed it.

Cathy – I can honestly agree with you. At the end of the day, I really had a great day with them. A bit of a different adventure, but still one for the books. We had a blast.

Bummer that you missed “the event” but looks like you made due improvising. Well done.

It was a fun day Monika, probably because they were with me, flat tire and all.
