When I wrote my Grateful post last week, I mentioned I would be baking for dogs over the weekend.
More specifically I wanted to bake cookies for Harley since it was his birthday…
I’d saved a Carob Chip Cookie Mix given to us from our friends at OTPR for a special ocassion.
This milestone birthday celebration seemed to fit the criteria. But –
HOUSTON – WE HAD A PROBLEM –
I lack serious talent when it comes to baking. #cantgetright
Not sure when it happened #wasntalwayslikethis
But after dozens of failed attempts – I stopped trying #yesIquit
So when a little recruit walked into the house – a grandniece who I haven’t seen since she was an infant…
I quickly enlisted her before she could say GOLDENDOODLE!
There was a mutual admiration between her and the Boys, so I took advantage of this blessing which had fallen upon me #yesIdid…
Cookie mix, oil, water and a bowl was all she needed…
Harley was aware all this activity would yield something “doodle*licious” for him, so he supervised the entire process…
…intently…
Similar to the Keebler factory, there’s always a quality control officer around before the “goodies” head over to the oven…
While the treats baked my employee took a break outside…
Thanks to the superior talents of little Ms. Laila ❤️ – we now have enough Carob cookies to last a very long time and one extremely happy Doodle…
That’s a little taste of our weekend, how was yours?
I am joining the Monday Mischief blog hop brought to you by My Brown Newfies. The Hop that wraps up the weekend.

Good you had some help. I could always come by and bake for you and the boys. I’m a real hound in the kitchen! Happy birthday once again, birthday boy!
December 1, 2015
Oh Emma, please come over! You and the Boys could bake together. I’d even get Harley a chef hat to match yours!
November 30, 2015
What a great project. We really should do more baked treats for the pups.
December 1, 2015
I’ve asked Santa Claus for a dehydrator – making chicken jerky is more my speed 🙂

I bet they enjoyed the cookies! Mr. N is extremely picky about baked goods. He’d much prefer it if I just threw him a piece of meat lol.

They loved the cookies, and the package the mix came in made it super easy.

How great to have such a good little helper!
December 1, 2015
I know! She was amazing.
November 30, 2015
too sweet! Harley looks like he would happily clean that plate off for you, no need of a dishwasher.
December 1, 2015
That is so right! I was super impressed that he sat so still so close to the plate of cookies for me to get a good photo. He was compensated for his self control. I paid in “cookies!”
November 30, 2015
Ooo yummy! So those just came in a pre-packaged bag? That’s how I do most of my human baking… because it’s easier!
December 1, 2015
Yes girlfriend! Like Pillsbury!
November 30, 2015
Yummers!! I love baking! I’ve just been so busy we haven’t had any time to bake recently. 🙂
I bet the boys loved it!!
December 1, 2015
I’ve given up with trying – I’m just gonna keep inviting little humans over so they can bake for me. #dontjudgeme

Wow – great to have a niece who is a talented baker drop by. I wish I had one of those!
December 1, 2015
I’m trying to figure out how to get her back before this batch runs out! LOL
November 30, 2015
What an adorable employee you have! And what a lucky boy Harley is to get some homemade treats!
December 1, 2015
He and Jax are both reaping the benefits of Laila’s efforts.
November 30, 2015
You’re so lucky to have such an adorable employee! The cookies look great!
December 1, 2015
Yes, she was the perfect assistant. The cookies must taste great because the boys will even do a little dance for me when they see me reach for the bag.
November 30, 2015
Your niece looks like she totally has the situation under control! I am not a baker of dog treats or human treats so I’m super impressed by your efforts.
December 1, 2015
Sho totally made a better batch of cookies than I ever could!
November 30, 2015
What a great beautiful talented helper!
December 1, 2015
Yes, she is!
December 1, 2015
Looks like Laila is not only a talented baker but an adorable model and perfect doodle playmate–you got a trifecta!
December 1, 2015
She is all of that and then some… Jax and Harley slept well that night, they were exhausted AND their tummies were full.
December 1, 2015
I like baking homemade treats, but it’s always such a long process… because if you’re going to get all that stuff out, you have to make a LOT… 🙂
December 1, 2015
That’s a true statement Nicole. But I think the packages (like the one I had) where you only add a few ingredients is the way to go.
December 1, 2015
I LOVE baking for my dogs.
December 1, 2015
I struggle with the whole process. I think I shy away from it for fear of a “dog” rejecting my baking! LOL Earl you’re fortunate to have a pet parent who likes to bake for you! She sounds like a keeper!

What luck! And belated birthday wishes to the doods. Those look yummy!
