In my opinion, if Harley could talk – one of his favorite phrases would pawbably be: “it wasn’t me!” In five short years, Harley has mastered the “it wasn’t me” look even without the verbal follow-up…
Even if he’s caught red handed white pawed in the middle of the act – he’ll cock that head to the side ever so sightly and stare me down till I think I’M crazy…
One evening as I sat on the floor in the hallway “home schooling” myself on camera techniques. Harley was in one of the bedrooms completely oblivious to my close proximity to him. I watched as he premeditated a highjacking of an empty plastic bottle from the nightstand.
Once he’d succeeded, he then nestled behind the bed with the bottle…
Pawhaps he assumed since he was on the other side of the bed, he would not be discovered, so he preceded to open the bottle and try with all his Doodle might to lick the rest of the orange juice goodness from the bottle…
For the longest time he was so engrossed with his “treasure” he was totally unaware of my presence. I had laid down on my belly in the hallway just snapping photo after photo. I was super quiet, don’t even think I was breathing. But eventually I got a little greedy and decided to shimmy a little closer for a better angle when I was spotted. #busted
What happened next made me laugh out loud. As soon as he saw me, he dropped the bottle, pushed it away with his paw, and gave me his BEST EVER “wasn’t me” look…
He then had the nerve to remain “poised” in that position for what seemed like minutes. Talk about an actor – Oh My Doodle!
When I finally stopped laughing and was able to gain my composure – I went into the room, sat on the floor, picked up the bottle and extended my arm to him. He came out from behind the bed, took the bottle out of my hand, and went right back to business as usual – forgetting I was even there…
I understand if you are speechless right about now, I was too when it happened. Have your dogs mastered the “it wasn’t me” look?
Harley wasn’t adopted, and he wasn’t a shelter pup – but he was what I call a “purchased” puppy mill rescue, and trust me when I tell you, without our family he surely would have died.
Everyday, I am grateful for him in my life, everyday is a blessing with four legs and a tail. Are you ready for a blessing? #Mondaysquestion

You are quite the actor my friend. Sadly, my cat bro Bert is too and I was framed for lots of stuff for over a year before Mom caught on. Keep up the good work, you efforts make the crimes worth the time.
October 6, 2014
Emma, I am so surprised to hear that you were a victim of Bert’s mischief 🙂 But tell the truth – are you completely mischief free?
October 7, 2014
BOL! SUCH a cute story! Riley doesn’t quite have the “wasn’t-me” look mastered yet 😉
October 10, 2014
Thanks Chelsea – just give Riley some time, I am sure that expression becomes standard to all pets after a while. Harley just started very early in life! Thanks so much for stopping by!

Harley needs his own tv show. Because I would love to have witnessed that myself.
