Let’s see – our Friday Night Lights blog post should have left you hanging like the famous Dallas soap opera mystery: “Who Shot JR.” And although my weekend may not have involved someone getting shot – it did have a lot going on packed with memorable events. So as I promised, here’s our weekend wrap up with a little bit of Monday mischief sprinkled on top!
This was the weekend of birthdays, and celebrations. No it wasn’t Harley’s birthday, but you would have thought it was. He was the center of attention during the activities, and not necessarily in an endearing way! My Doodle was obsessed with taste testing human food. He was unusually interested in food, any food, anybody’s food – every single minute!
The weekend birthday extravaganza began with Harley’s “partner in crime” Marshall from next door. Marshall’s birthday was earlier in the week, and I’d pawmised him a “secret outing” with only he, Harley and of course myself as transportation operator and ATM manager.
I am well aware from prior conversations that both he and Harley share this ravenous appetite for ice cream. Therefore it made pawfect sense to chauffeur the two down the road to the Frostie Moose…
Harley knew all too well why I was inside, so he immediately started “working the window” for “cute” points from the staff thinking this will get him a little “sumpin-sumpin” extra in his cup…
I will say this, he was very patient as I took his photo BEFORE he devoured his “pup cup” complete with doggie bone…
Do you think he ate the entire cup…
AbsoDOODLEtutely…
And once he finished his, he started “eye balling” Marshall’s. They talked furever, and hung out later at the house…
Friday evening was all about me!
August 1st was my birthday and Doodle Dad created the magical twinkling wonderland on our patio. Again, Harley thought this was all about “him”…
He seemed fascinated by the candle, I told him he could help me blow out the candle but there would be no licking the sides of the cake…
I was whisked away by my son for a day of shopping (loved that) and “linner” (late lunch – early dinner) at a Japanese Steak House. I drank Sake for the first time. Let’s just say it’s an #acquiredtaste
In the afternoon there were friends for me and anipals for Harley at one of my favorite local places to spend an afternoon – Barrel Oak Winery…
Poor Harley spotted a Golden Retriever and thought she was a long lost cousin on his mother’s side, so he chased after her…
Such a busy-body-doodle. If he wasn’t scheming on how to grab some food…
He was pulling children…
Or chewing up chicken infused napkins under the table…
But really – Could you get angry at a face like this?…
I know – you can’t!
My family truly out did themselves this year, and I love them so much more (if that’s possible) because of it. It was a great weekend, and Leo was with me the entire time – because I carry him in my heart!
Harley even tried to play ball with me this weekend, he tires easily…
Thanks for reading, come back again soon, Harley and I will always have stories to share…

Happy belated birthday, DM! Sounds like a fabulous weekend for all! Mom tried Sake when she was flying since she was always in Japan. She said it was the worst tasting stuff ever, but some people love it. Maybe it is an acquired taste.
