WORDLESS WEDNESDAY | HOT CARS KILL

We cannot leave our beloved pets in parked cars – HOT CARS KILL.

Earlier this month I read the saddest story about the tragic and unnecessary death of a pup named Chloe

Then the other day, my heart literally sank when I read about the senseless death of a little Yorkshire terrier named Crystal. This dog was left in a car for more than one hour during a summer heatwave…

How many ways and how many times do we have to say it? – HOT CARS KILL

I really thought with all the repetitive blogs, articles, “likes, tweets & instagram posts” pet people were paying better attention!

Apparently not….

I have no doubt these people loved their pets. Perhaps they just underestimated how fast a parked car can actually heat up.

Can we help? We can certainly try. Let’s take advantage of social medias capabilities. If we continue to spread the word, we just might heighten awareness which could reduce the unnecessary deaths of pets left in hot cars.

Look at Harley sitting in this car (just a dramatization – he was only in there for one photo). Even early in the morning, the sun is already beaming through the window. It will only take about 30 minutes before the temperature reaches unbearable degrees. I can only imagine how uncomfortable/painful this will quickly become…

Here’s a great infographic created by THE DAILY DOG BLOG. Jules says “feel free to pass it around – tweet it, and share it on facebook”

 HOT CARS KILL

For a “Wordless Wednesday” this was a bit “wordy”,

but thanks so much for reading, thanks so much for caring…

Good message. I agree…can’t believe people still do it, but I guess it just means the message hasn’t reached everyone yet.

Exactly Slim – that’s why I really wanted to post this today. Together I really believe we can make the difference! We’ll just have to continue to talk about it – I feel so sorry for those pet parents, they will have to live with this the rest of their life. Too sad 🙁 Thanks for reading, love the FURrendship…

A great reminder! Its never worth it to leave them in the car in the summer heat.

Just another reason we are not fans of summer. Hot weather and dogs is not a good mix for us and we can’t go along many times because it is too warm in the car.

Emma, Harley pouts when he sees me leave, but I’d rather he pout and be alive when I return then take a chance and jeopardize his safety. This year has been extremely hot and unusually humid, a bad mix to be left in the car.

I’ve actually called animal control over a dog left in a hot car and they said they can’t come out until the dog exhibits signs of distress. Might be a little late by then, don’t you think?

Tenacious Little Terrier my FURrend, another law that needs to be rewritten. Your absoDOODLEly right, it could be too late. Like the little dog Chloe, because of the extreme heat, her organs started to fail, and the only way to relieve her from the pain was to euthanize? So sad… Thanks for stopping by. Please spread the word – HOT CARS KILL!

I think the people who do it are the ones not reading this stuff =/ I just read a story last week about a woman who left her kid and dog in the car while she went shopping in the mall for an hour… the windows were down and she left them some essentials at least but really people?

I’m with you on that one Ann, but just in case we write and we’re able to convert one person, it’s been a good day 🙂 I read the same story – insane!!!! This year seems to be so much worse then previous years, or maybe I just wasn’t paying attention. My heart aches for the dogs…

We all have to keep sharing. I saw someone leave their dog for 15 minutes while they went to the grocery store. The window was down a bit and it was not one of our hottest days but still…. Just not worth the risk. They had no idea.
Thanks and have a great week. X Susie at Talent Hounds

We’re all so immersed in the ‘dog lovers’ world’ and see this message so often, it’s hard to believe folks still don’t know the dangers. The owners must have been devastated. But what an easily avoidable tragedy! We’ll continue to share the word!

So well said Jackie, these deaths could have so easily been avoided. Thanks for sharing…

No problem Sharon, I hope more people talk about this resulting in more people leaving their pets at home when it’s so hot outside! Thanks for reading…

It amazes me that people think cracking the window will help. When the weather is nice, I will run into the gas station to pay or something like that where my car is in view and leave the windows ALL the way down. Pug wears a seat belt harness so he can’t get out the window even with it all the way down.

If it’s even a little warm he doesn’t get left unless it’s an absolute must – and in that case I leave the car running with the AC on full blast.

Andrea – you and I think a lot alike! If it’s really hot out, I don’t take him, or I wait to run my errands w/o him on another day. Nothing is ever that important. Thanks for stopping by 🙂
