When Olde Towne Pet Resort called and asked if I could please bring Harley to the FOX 5 television studio, I stifled my giggles until after the call was over. They wanted my Doodle Bug on The Morning Show called “Good Day DC”…
During the conversation, I tried to act real cool – as if I receive these types of calls often – “sure, I don’t see why not” I said. But let me tell you, as soon as I “hung up” – I “got up” and did this little celebratory jig around my chair animated like Whoopi Goldberg in the Color Purple! #itwasasight
For the morning show, they wanted him dressed in a Halloween costume! This was going to require a conversation with the Doodle himself. He and I needed to discuss what he “would and would not” tolerate in front of millions of viewers. He said he would accept anything that didn’t require a head piece, so we agreed on the “Hot Doodle Dog” costume…
For those of you who follow Harley on FB, now you know why he had a mud bath and blueberry facial on Friday #Icantmakethistuffup
The purpose of the television segment was for the resort to offer advice and tips to pet parents on how to have a stress free Halloween.
Harley would be on the show with their Marketing Manager (another love of his life) Katy Salo…
The show would broadcast “live” – so while we waited to join the news cast on the set, Harley wasted no time making furrends with former Washington Redskin offensive lineman Tre Johnson…
Once we entered the studio, it all became super real to me. Katy had a brief discussion with Harley regarding “our” expectations of him before the news team came in…
At one point Harley searched around the room looking for me. I’m so glad I was allowed to stay. Once we established eye contact, he gave me that “I’m gonna win the hearts of thousands today Momma!” look…
Meet Superman Thor who also “plays and stays” at The Pet Resort…
Here’s my little Doodle Bug in action…
It was a doodle*tastic experience. What started out to be a little nerve wracking (mainly because I didn’t know what to expect) quickly turned into an exhilarating type of morning.
Thank you Olde Towne Pet Resort for the opportunity.
Thank you Harley for being on your best behavior 🙂
Thank you Fox 5 News, Harley now has some new cool doodle furrends…
Yes, Saturday was definitely “A Good Day DC”…
I am joining the Monday Mischief blog hop brought to you by Alfie’s Blog, Snoopy’s Dog Blog, My Brown Newfies.

Harley did a great job and looks great as a hot dog. I was glad to hear them discuss the dangers of xylitol to dogs.
October 28, 2014
Thanks Raven. He’ll be wearing his hot dog costume to the pet resort on Friday night too! I agree, we can never hear too many times about the dangers of some foods when it comes to our pets. Hopefully pet parents are becoming more diligent and less pets will be harmed this Halloween.
October 27, 2014
That is so cool, Harley! Sorry you had to wear a hotdog, but it was worth it to be on TV. What a lucky boy you are!
October 28, 2014
Emma, the hotdog costume was our best choice. Harley will not wear anything on his head, it just ain’t happening. Therefore a body costume will be about all he’ll ever put up with 🙂 It seemed to be a hit at the station, and he had a great time meeting new humans. A fun day!
October 27, 2014
How awesome, you look like a pro! Great job and congrats!!!
October 28, 2014
Thanks Miley! It was his first time!
October 27, 2014
Bravo! Bravo! You look terrific, you behaved fabulously. Love the costume. Here is my only complaint: they needed to talk to you only!! Skip everything else –especially that other dog and the guy talking. For heavens sake, they had a Doodle in the House!! They needed to spotlight only you. The camera should have just been on the groovy doodle in the house!!
October 28, 2014
Now, now Dash Lilly – don’t jump all over the camera lady. There was plenty of air time for Harley Doodle. Thor has furrends too – they wanted to see him I’m sure. But just between you and me “I’m happy to hear you wanted to see more of me!” Thanks my FURever furrends 🙂
October 27, 2014
Just. Plain. Pawsome. And you did your doodle best!
Yay Harley. You’re a star!
