Now that was a trip down memory lane wasn’t it?

This is the song my family has adopted and sings every evening once my husband Lee gets home from work. “Poor thing” – he barely has time to take off his coat, and put his briefcase down, because Harley and Leo both associate him as the “link” to the treats – and they are relentless.

When this game first started, both boys tested ALL of us. But the one person who snapped under the pressure was the one we “thought” would stay strong. We told him not to give in – but he did, so there is absolutely no pity for him now!

It starts with Harley underfoot when he crosses the doorsill. If Lee was to suddenly reverse his steps and back up, he’d trip over Harley.

As soon as Lee navigates around them and sits down, Harley begins to “rake” Lee’s leg with his paw. Leo’s role is to sit erect and still “like stone” right in front of Lee resembling one of those Ancient Roman Pagan Dog Statues.

This has Lee convinced he’s a marked man in his own home, until he gets them a treat from the laundry room. We laugh, taunt, and tease him and then, when he relents – we start singing/humming the song…
