SATURDAY MORNING RITUALS

By Monday, November 9, 2015 22 Permalink

It seems as if some of my Saturday morning rituals have not changed since I was a little girl.  One habit in particular is changing bed linen…

It’s that chore should you fail to “abide” by – it haunts you the rest of the weekend. #horror

Since I’ve been doing this for several decades, it usually takes a few minutes #beforecoffee and BAM I’m done.

Not the case with this dastardly doodle duo…

It started when they saw the clean sheets. They both jumped up on the bed and rolled around like they’d lost their ever loving doodle minds.

Jax dragged the comforter and blanket to the foot of the bed and stayed there as if he was on guard duty…

I shooed them away yet they kept coming back!

Watch this 10 second video – see for yourself how –

  • they were able to get completely under the sheet
  • Harley literally throws his head up in the air as if he’s mocking my plea’s for him to vacate the bed

As this circus continued for a few more minutes, I leaned against the wall analyzing why it was so important for me to change the sheets on this specific morning.

Maybe, the Boys were trying to tell me something –

  • have a little spontaneous fun
  • leave the sheets on the bed
  • do different #justbecause

Slightly convinced there was nothing wrong with changing things up a bit I grabbed the ruffled sheets along with that crumpled up comforter and placed it back on the bed.

With Harley still manning his position, I walked out of the room leaving the bed in its “as is” condition.

No pillow shams, no crisp clean (fabric softener smelling) sheets and no decorative pillows. I left my bed with Harley on it, and I never looked back…

Knowing my limitations – I purposely refrained from going back upstairs all day. I knew if I did, I would certainly try to change those sheets.

That was a bad decision. Because of them, I’m psychologically ruined for life. I had the worst sleep ever. #nolie

But I’m ready the next time they decide to overthrow my Saturday morning rituals. #devildoodles

I can play dirty too! Trust me. #byanymeansnecessary

That’s too funny. Bailey always fools around with the bed, but until this year Katy had ignored it. Recently she’s discovered it and it has become a huge point of mischief for her. It reminds Mom and Dad to always make the bed before leaving the room. Dirty pawed little girl dog loves to jump into bed and get comfy otherwise.

You should see Doodle Dad go to great lengths to protect his pillow. I laugh almost everyday because that’s Jax’s favorite spot. #hilarious

Thanks, they are cute but one of them is certainly a menace!

Haha. Mr. N also loves fresh sheets and laundry right out of the dryer. He’s gotten to the point though where he knows I’m changing sheets and will wait until I finish putting them on and then jumps right back on.

You would think dogs are addicted to the smell of a fabric dryer sheet. #geez

We would never do that, but the cats…they always make a mess out of the sheets when Mom tries to change them. She usually tucks them in tight under a sheet, finishes making the bed and goes on her way. They eventually tunnel out!

I would try that, but Jax is almost 60 lbs, he would be out in a NY minute.

What is it with dogs when you try to change the sheets? Mine try to sabotage me, too. As soon as I start pulling the blankets off, they jump up on the bed and after it is freshly made, Tim sneaks up there and digs around until he makes himself a little nest. Sheesh!

I don’t know Vicki – but I bet you, if we wanted them to play there – they wouldn’t! I give up trying to figure them out! I just love them as they are!

There is a pile of blankets on the floor in the living room, because when I was taking blankets off the sofa, Scout decided to make a bed in them – I let them be; J probably put them in the wash when he got home.

Too funny. Rita loves to jump on the bed while I’m trying to make it!

What is the attraction Jackie? I can’t figure it out!

It was fun for some, trauma for others LOL

Can’t relate to that problem. Our v-berth is too high for Honey to jump up by herself.

Heck, it takes some effort for me and my husband to do it too. 🙂

Every day around here is a challenge just trying to make the bed!

Good for you in figuring out a way to outsmart them. I need to keep a bag of treats in the bedroom!

Yep – that’s me, in the nightstand drawer. A little ziplock bag just “because”:)

Thanks Monika – we’ve got a bunch of rituals around here. Creatures of habit – that’s what I call us!
