NO – JAX IS NOT MISSING
But if he was…
…would I know what to do?
This question haunted me after reading a heartbreaking story.
A story about a missing Goldendoodle named Kramer…
STORY SUMMARY –
The pet parent (Nik Glaser) took a short trip, leaving Kramer with a friend. But something went wrong.
The friend unexpectedly decided she was no longer able to watch him and says she returned him to Nik’s apartment. Nik had guests staying in his apartment while he was away and they say his dog sitter never returned Kramer to the apartment.
Two days later when he returned home, his beloved dog was gone.
When I finished reading his story a second time – I used my shirt sleeve like a Kleenex and began scouring the internet. I wanted to know – just where does one start such a horrific search.
I believe we all would know to do most of these things –
- post signs
- canvas the area
- knock on doors
- visit local police stations
- stop by animal shelters
- local rescue groups
- animal hospitals
- place newspaper ads
I’m not so sure I would have thought about the power of the internet #genius
Social Media can reach thousands in less than an hour…
Did you know there was a Missing Pets USA Facebook page?#Ididnt…
A-MAZING! –
Among the many sites available to assist with reuniting lost pets, I found –
The Center for Lost Pets – Using the Web to Find Lost Pets.
One central location – available for one purpose – to help you get your lost pet back home. #beautiful
- privately funded
- free for everyone
- created by a team of dedicated specialists.
Whether you’ve lost or found a pet, they offer a –
- register page
- advice page
- listings of pets lost and found
- website resources
- search engine resources
I pray no one EVER has to register with them. #pleaseJesus
But I wanted you to know they are there.
Social Media is such a powerful tool.
A “tweet” a “like” a “share” a “pin” a “❤️”- whatever your pleasure – can you take a moment this weekend and share Kramer’s picture/story?
He’s out there somewhere and who knows –
YOUR REACH COULD REUNITE THEM –
I can’t begin to think too long or too hard about what “I would do” – the thought alone makes me queazy.
But I can certainly try to help someone else.
CAN YOU? –
You’re the best! Have a great weekend & feel free to share this post!
ONE MORE THING –
If you’re living in the path of this historic blizzard…

If you hear any news about Kramer please update us. That is so sad, I wonder what happened?
January 22, 2016
I hope charges were filed against the pet sitter. 🙁
January 22, 2016
Right now I’m sure all energy is focused on finding Kramer. Hard to say because we don’t know “the rest of the story!” #paulharvey
January 22, 2016
I certainly will Katkia. It’s a strange sequence of events – that has ended with a dog missing from home. #sosad Can you share this post? Thanks!

We are sad we are missing the snow, it is perfect for us, but no luck. Anyway, never lost a dog, but our cat disappeared in Sept. 2008 and we never saw him again and have no idea what happened to him. It still bugs my mom a lot. She says it was really hard losing him, but one of us dogs would be so much worse. Scary stuff.

Emma, I think losing a pet has got to be the worst. It would just kill me not knowing where Harley or Jax was. Snuggle with your mom for me and tell her I’m so sorry to hear that she lost a cat. #terrible If you get a chance can you share this post on social media? Together we stand a great chance of making a difference and helping with their search. Have a great weekend – and don’t worry, I am sure more snow is coming your way soon 🙂

Thank you for this very helpful post. Ziggy is microchipped but that only helps if a pet is taken to a Vet. I sure hope Kramer is found. It’s like a piece of you is torn out when something happens to your pet.
Thank you for the well wish for this blizzard. We are hunkered down nicely, plenty of Wood for the fireplace, plenty of wine & cheese, plenty of dog food & treats 🙂
January 22, 2016
I feel you Claudette – if you wouldn’t mind can you please share this post on your social media pages – together we can spread the word and perhaps help them. Thanks! Sounds like you’re stocked and ready for whatever comes your way #gosnow

We heard about Kramer! Maybe we have a furend in common. Do you know Casey Ramon Goldendoodle by chance? If me or Stanley came up missing mom would die. We are afraid that is no exaggeration so thanks for all the information!
Keep Calm & Bark On!

Hi – no I don’t think I know Casey Ramon. I know exactly how your mom would feel – I feel the same way. Please share this and together we can help! Have a great weekend 🙂

What GREAT information!! Thank you for the post!! I’ve liked and shared Kramer’s information, we are in Central CA but you never know…. I hope he finds his way home soon!!!
January 23, 2016
Thanks Denise – I think it’s great that you’ve shared this especially since you’re in the CA area. Take care.

That’s so terrible. I would go out of my mind if Mr. N was ever lost. He only goes to stay with friends who are total dog people and who I trust implicitly. We will share.
January 23, 2016
That’s exactly why I wrote this story. I knew so many pet parents out there would help circulate this tragic nightmare in hopes of helping reunite the two of them. Thanks for sharing. #andcaring

Thank you, I don’t think about this and hope I never have to use it so it was a reminder that yes we have to be prepared.
January 23, 2016
I know what you mean – it’s one of those subjects we don’t ever want to think about – I hope Nik is able to find Kramer. So sad…
January 24, 2016
Although we’re not in the area, I will post to Facebook. This story just broke my heart. I hope there’s a happy ending to the story for Nik and Kramer. ღ
January 25, 2016
I feel ya Monika – it’s a horrible thing to know that your four legged friend is out there and you can’t find him. So sad. Thanks for sharing, I’m sure Nik and Kramer appreciate it.
January 25, 2016
Great post with really useful information. I hope they find Kramer.
January 25, 2016
We do too Slim – please share (especially since you’re in the CA area) Thanks

What a bizarre story. Nik must be heartbroken.
It’s something I’ve definitely thought about. Honey is very unlikely to ever wonder off. But being stolen? A very real possibility. And one that I really worried about when we were living on land.
Hope Kramer turns up safe and sound soon.

i think it’s something that many of us think about these days. Last night I read a blog post written to heighten our awareness when walking our pets. Apparently there’s an increase in dog snatching when they’re with you on a leash! What’s happening in this world?
January 25, 2016
It’s so heartbreaking to think of these people who have lost their pets. It can happen so easily and in so many different ways. It makes me never want to let the dogs out of my sight!
We have a great group in our area that helps local people find lost pets, and there are several Facebook pages as well that do the same. I got to know a few different women online who had lost pets, and none of them ever found theirs. It’s just so, so sad, especially when they just keep on trying and trying and not giving up, and still nothing (it even went on for years with some of them).
I wrote a post about one of them, hoping it would somehow help.
January 26, 2016
I agree with you Jan – it’s becoming super scary indeed. Thanks so much for sharing their story. Paws crossed Kramer makes it back home soon.
