LITTLE LEAGUE WORLD SERIES | WORDLESS WEDNESDAY

I wanted to go to the Little League World Series on Sunday more than anything else in the, well…”world!” I wanted to be there for the World title championship game between the Jackie Robinson West Little League team (United States) and the Seoul Little League team (South Korea)…

Doodle Mom and I were all set to tag along and hang out on the lawn with a a few thousand people…

That could have been me / us...

That could have been me / us…

However, I was terribly disappointed to find out if you had four paws and a tail, you couldn’t get in. There seem’d to have been at least one exception though…

Some of you may remember our post about the 1955 Cannon Street All Stars from Charleston SC.  Doodle Dad’s father was one of the founding coaches the year they traveled to Williamsport, PA. Decades later, he was invited to represent his father (him had a ticket) as the team would once again be recognized along with other teams from past series. Members of the “first” Little League World Series team of 1939 were there this year also…

When he came home that night, he told us everything. I listened so well Doodle Mom gave up her chair and allowed me to write this post…

I know, I look like I belong here don't I?

He said the entire experience was “doodle” cool. The Cannon Street All Stars were even interviewed by ESPN #saywhat…

Grandpa Doodle Dad would have loved this!

Doodle Dad even met Reggie Bythewood, the screen writer for a movie about the Cannon Street All Star team #getthedoodleoutofhere…

He's sitting with John Rivers

AND he met the US Championship team Manager: Darold Butler and 2nd baseman Trey Hondras #thisishuge…

John Rivers, a Cannon Street player, shared their story with our Country’s new winning Little League team out of Chicago…

WOW! They all got a book #superdoodlecool

I loved all the loot he brought back. A shirt for Doodle Mom, the flags from both America and South Korea, tons of pamphlets flyers, papers, pins to share with Marshall and Mason from next door…

And after it was all over, Doodle Mom took out the book and we looked at it again, because there was something really special about this whole thing…

Forgive me for having a “Wordy” Wednesday post – but Doodle Dad was so excited, and then I got excited about sharing this with you. Okay I’ll stop – I’m climbing out of the chair now. Thanks for reading…

Miley, Harley and I we’re disappointed as well. We could have had a great day sitting on our blanket chilling and watching the game. Oh well…

OH HARLEY! Since you wrote your post, mom said I could write the response. We loved the Little League world series too!!! I can’t believe Doodle Dad got to go. We were rooting for Philadelphia. Mom is from there and went to college there. Since we love baseball, guess what mom did. She got tickets for Bark in Park — I get to to go to a Rockies game in September (the little leaguers could teach them a few things..) My sister isn’t going–not her thing. But I am going with my college boy. We can’t wait. We love this post! What a lucky doodle dad. (by the way, my sister wants to tell you that your butt looks a bit large in the chair! gosh she is rude) Happy Wednesday. Your doodle buddy, Dash

Hey Dash, Harley would agree with you, his butt is too big for the chair. He had his rump resting on the arm rest! BOL

Sorry you weren’t allowed in, but you were a good sport about it 😉

Talent Hounds, we had our “pity party” earlier and then we settled in with some snacks in front of the television and got so engrossed in the game, we forgot all about it!

How fun to get all that loot. It is rather rude, though, when dogs aren’t allowed. We aren’t allowed at any of our nephews little league games, so Mom refuses to go too. It is outside, so we find it unfair.

Emma, we actually shared most of it, we just came back from the nursing home visiting today, and there’s a fella who loves sports – so Doodle Mom took the newspaper to him and he was so happy, he raced to his room to hang it on the wall.

That is abso-doodle fantastic! What a great day. I’m sorry that you didn’t get to go, but what nice souvenirs! What was the deal that they let in a squirrel/chipmunk/beaver critter wearing a shirt and NOT a Doodle dog?

Look at you M.K. using doodle language (you go girl!) They say he has special privileges because he’s a Disney character named “Dugout” #whatever

How exciting that your family was part of this great American tradition. I wished I could be there too.

Sharon, it’s a bitter sweet feeling, my father in law is no longer around, however, he was able to be there a few years ago when they were given their awards. My husband makes himself available whenever the team calls, and represents his dad. Can’t wait for the movie 🙂

It was Lauren, could have been an AMAZING DAY in capital letters if Harley and I were there BOL We rooted from the television recliners 🙂

What a wonderful event! Sports are always better when it is just about passion for the game and not millions of dollars. Dogs get it… 🙂

      August 27, 2014

Dogs do get it! I agree. Even though I wasn’t there on the lawn in the heat and all, I enjoyed watching it on television. Exciting game, I’m actually happy for both teams.

That is pretty cool, but if they let that squirelly looking guy in there they totally should have let you in too!!!

    • Cathy Bennett
      August 27, 2014

Ann, we thought about trying to bust in – make a scene, and maybe even get on the news. But our luck, nothing would happen, and Harley and I would spend the entire afternoon in the parking lot BOL Hence, we stayed home and watched it on television…

Wow, how could they keep you out of such a fun time! I think a second exception should have been made.

Great job Harley, I am sorry you didn’t get to go but doodle dad did an awesome job capturing this event which is dear to my heart. I’ll cherish this post for years to come. I know daddy is proud of doodle dad and smiling with the angels saying look at my son standing in the gap for me.Good job.

There’s something wrong with a place that doesn’t allow us dogs in. They don’t know what they’re missing.

Tenacious it would have been a lot neater if they could have snuck me inside to watch the game live. But you’re right – it was great loot!

    August 28, 2014

That’s awesome for Doodle Dad and so nice of him to share all with you and poor Doodle Mom who had to stay home. Why aren’t these things friendly to the four footers?

    • Cathy Bennett
      August 28, 2014

We thought it was doodle cool too Jodi that he thought to bring those back for us. Who knows why four legged little league enthusiasts aren’t allowed. Makes no sense to us either!
