HOW WAS YOUR WEEKEND? | MOTHERS DAY RECAP

I can remember vividly what it was like returning to the office on Monday mornings after a holiday. Plenty of chatter in little groups – “how was your weekend?”

Because I work from home, I no longer have office buddies. Therefore I cannot stand around taking turns telling stories about how I spent my Mothers Day. But I do have YOU, so I hope you don’t mind reading about a holiday that took an unexpected turn surprising me with my own reaction!

Our Sunday morning walk was pretty normal. We strolled through the streets taking our time because the weather was incredible – spring is finally here to stay! When we got back, I poured myself a hot cup of coffee, and sat down to open my Mothers Day cards. I sipped as Harley helped me. He must have felt I needed confetti to celebrate so he got busy with the envelopes as I read my cards…

Once we were done with the cards, Harley and I split an egg for breakfast. Please tell me – does your pup love scrambled eggs from time to time?…

2

After breakfast we went to spend time with my Mom. Then we headed to brunch with Tiffany and John. I had to leave the Boys home, which was difficult. Harley can really give you “the look” when he realizes he’s not invited. I feel bad, but I keep it moving.

It was such a gorgeous day, we sat outside, and the array of food was fabulous. I adore being around my family….

We returned home and Harley was his usual cheerful self…

But once Leo greeted us, he seemed to deflate right before my eyes…

Momma, I'm not feeling very well

Momma, I’m not feeling very well

NOW HERE’S THE UNEXPECTED TURN: I didn’t think much of Leo’s listlessness, as I headed upstairs. I was only in my bedroom for two seconds when I saw it. Leo had lost his breakfast on both doggie beds – YUCK!

HERE’S ME SURPRISING MYSELF: You would think after such an amazing day, I might have felt just a twinge of resentment coming home to find this “not so welcomed” gift waiting for me. But it was quite the contrary.

With a smile on my face, I removed those Orvis bed liners, and marched to the laundry room just as happy as I was BEFORE I went upstairs…

Because today I was reminded by the people and pups whom I love so much –  for all I do, and for all that I attempt and sometimes fail to do – it does not go unnoticed. I am wanted, needed, loved and valued. I am blessed!

This was validated later by the set of paws hovering over my feet as I worked on this post…

With a little love and a light dinner, Leo's on the mend

Thanks for reading! How was your weekend? I’m headed back to my pretend office now –

oh I know that feeling! I have cleaned up after my doodles so many times and I too got to a point with them that I just can’t get mad or resentful — I think I will do just about anything for these two! And, yes, eggs are a big deal for us. Mostly, for Dash. I take out the frying pan and he is ready and in sitting in the kitchen! He knows the word “egg”! Not so much Lilly though. She passes on the egg breakfast! Thanks for chatting about your weekend. Sounds great! Happy Monday, Deirdre, Dash and Lilly’s mom 🙂

Thank goodness I’m not alone 🙂 It’s really hard for me to get upset with them.
So Dash has an egg fetish huh? Interesting about Lilly – Leo doesn’t care for them much either. I try to limit Harley’s egg intake to only once (maybe) twice a week – and it’s only a little portion. Thanks for stopping by, Deirdre. Hope your Mothers Day was wonderful also.

Sounds like you had a great weekend Cathy, despite the puke! I’ve given the dogs scrambled eggs from time to time too, they seem to love them!

I had a great weekend surrounded by my family, who made me feel very special on Mother’s Day! They really do love me!

Of course they love you…. That’s great Jen. Too bad we don’t get that sort of attention say twice a year BOL

I work from home and sometimes, not very often, I miss the Monday morning water cooler talk. Then I go talk to the dogs and usually feel better.
We have a Sunday morning ritual here. My husband likes a big breakfast because this usually his only day off. The dogs always get their share of scrambled eggs with cheese on Sunday morn and they love it. Favorite morning of the week because that is the only day they get this special treat.
We had a wonderful Mother’s Day also. Like you, throw up doesn’t faze us anymore except to make us worry why they were sick. How can you get mad at them for not feeling well? Just can’t do it here 🙂

I know what you mean Stacey. Just this morning I was cleaning up behind someone. I am amazed at how far I’ve come with all of this – BOL I’m glad you had a nice Mothers Day. I haven’t tried putting cheese in the eggs yet – why do I think that would cause Harley gas……..
