The other day I realized the holiday season 🎄 wasn’t “coming” – it was already HERE!
Our human children will be arriving soon, so I needed to get busy getting festive…
I can always count on my buddy Harley too stay close and help the best he can.
As for my #grinchdoodle – if what I’m doing doesn’t include something big, round, bouncy and red, he’s really not interested…
But that didn’t bother me. I was having a great day!
The decorations were going up while we listened to our favorite Charlie Brown Christmas tunes…
And the mailman delivered Harley & Jaxson’s FIRST Christmas card for this holiday season from our dear furry friends Dante, Ziva & Jack of DZ Dogs.
I cherish the friendships we’ve developed through blogging #warmsmyheart ❤️
Harley was eager to respond in kind…
He couldn’t wait to get his Christmas card out…
After carefully working on just the right words to say, he slapped a stamp on that envelope with his paw and off to the mailbox we went…
For us here in Doodleville, Christmas is full of relaxed family fun, and since this is our first Christmas in Charleston, SC. we’re excited about creating new traditions.
And of course, the Boys and I will share them with you. After all – we’re like #family.
So tell me…

So many colourful decorations!
December 16, 2015
We are ready, just need the winter weather. It is positively awful this month! You all are looking good!
December 16, 2015
I thought you already had a touchdown of the white stuff – no? It will be very different and interesting for us this Christmas in SC with temperatures at 78 degrees! Looking forward to the change.
December 16, 2015
Time goes way to fast. It’s finally getting cold here
Lily & Edward
December 18, 2015
The weather has been so strange this season it’s hard for people to get motivated to decorate! We knew it would be warm here in Charleston, so we weren’t waiting for a change. We’re loving the break from the snow (at least I am)
December 16, 2015
Not ready…so not ready….but I guess it’s here whether I’m ready or not, right? Seriously, I’ve already had some Christmas fun and the house is ready. I just have presents to wrap and meals to plan still! I take things one at a time these days…so I’m at least ready for whatever is next! 🙂 And the dogs are ready to get their presents, that’s for sure!
December 18, 2015
I associate “ready” as a personal goal. Last year I did minimum decorations and yet I considered myself “ready” LOL This year I am a little more “into” the festive thing, so I did more. I’m sure once the human children arrive, I will be over the moon excited. Have a very Merry Christmas Jan.
December 16, 2015
Oh yay!!! Can’t wait to see the card of our handsome doodle friends!
Merry Christmas! We’re all decorated but not done shopping yet….mom better get on it!
December 18, 2015
You should have it any day now. Hugs to my DZ Dogs.
December 16, 2015
I’m finally caught up for the moment so that I can enjoy a cup of tea and put my feet up for a few minutes…then it’s time to bake a batch of sugar cookies!
I hope you have a wonderful first Christmas there in Charleston!
December 18, 2015
Well, you know baking cookies is certainly not on my list. I will have to buy some LOL
December 16, 2015
Enjoy the holidays in your new home!
December 18, 2015
Thanks Joann – can’t wait for the kids to get here.
December 16, 2015
We are ready and waiting on Santa!
December 18, 2015
And Bentley has been such a good boy this year the tree should be full of treats and toys for my boy! Merry Christmas MK
December 16, 2015
The holiday season is just so sneaky! It just pops up all unexpected and such 🙂
December 18, 2015
It can have that “creep-effect” when you least expect it BAM – it’s here!
December 16, 2015
what! Charleston? I thought you were in VA and dreamed of meeting up sometime.
Cole is impressed with Harley. He is quite the designer and gets things done as well, while we drag our tails around here. LeeAnna
December 18, 2015
LeeAnna where in the Doodle have you been? 🙂 We moved in September – smack in the middle of our daughters wedding (which coincidently was also in Charleston!). Since both human children remained in VA, I will be back and forth to visit, so we can still meet. I promise. Merry Christmas to you and Cole!
December 16, 2015
Harley did a great job helping! Your decorations look wonderful. There is always that one family member who isn’t interested in helping too. It looks like your cards are going to turn out great. I still have to get mine out!
December 18, 2015
HA! Harley is just nosey!!! Merry Christmas Robin
December 17, 2015
Your decorations are so cute! It’s good to have helpers!
We are having a little trouble getting into the holiday spirit… We didn’t decorate this year but I did pull some Christmas things out and took some doggy holiday photos. 🙂
December 18, 2015
Hey Lauren, everybody’s Christmas is different. This year, you just might go without decorations! I did that last year, just didn’t feel like it and it was fine. Merry Christmas my friend, however you choose to celebrate 🙂
December 17, 2015
We’re still trying to get in the spirit here with some very unseasonably warm temps….
December 18, 2015
Tell me about it Nicole. I watched my husband help his sister with her lights a few weeks ago, and he was in a tank top sweating like crazy. I kept thinking – “this doesn’t feel like Christmas!”
December 17, 2015
Without the usual cues for the holidays, it’s been tough to think about Christmas. But I finally strung some holiday lights on the deck (which had to come down for tomorrow’s sail) and cut out some snowflakes for the cabin bulkheads.
I was kind of hoping we’d be somewhere fun for Christmas, like Charleston or St. Augustine. But since we’re hitting Norfolk, VA tomorrow, I guess we’ll have to make somewhere fun wherever we are. 🙂
Hope you and your family enjoy a lovely holiday!
December 18, 2015
Norfolk can be fun. Not sure about the weather though. The lights on the boat sound dreamy. Christmas Eve the family will travel to John’s Island to watch the Festival of Lights on the water. Supposed to be enchanting – all the decorations on the boats. I thought of you. Wondered if I’d loose my mind if I saw Honey on one of the boats 🙂 Have the Merriest Christmas ever regardless to where you are!
December 17, 2015
You look totally ready for the holidays! Good on ya. Next year, I need to follow your example and do the card exchange thing. I didn’t do it this year, and now I’m jealous of all of the little greetings my blogger friends are sharing. I need to get in on that action!
Jean from Welcome to the Menagerie
December 18, 2015
Hey Jean – I am in the same boat! I failed to sign up for the card exchange, the Christmas angels just sent DZ Dogs my way. I too wish I was a part of the exchange, it really makes me smile to get things in the mail for the Boys. So next year – let’s make a pact – let’s “do-it!” Merry Christmas my friend
December 18, 2015
It looks like you are all ready for the holidays. Me not so much. Although I did schedule the Chimney sweep to come by and check on our fireplace/chimney on Christmas Eve morning so we can have chestnuts roasting on the open fire! 🙂
December 19, 2015
I love the first picture of ornaments and a doodle in the background. I think if you modified it a little—no chair in the background, a little more light on the dog—you would have a photo that a photo agency might want. You have a good eye and great subjects and everyone loves dog pics. My two cents worth. Have a good holiday.
December 23, 2015
Just for you my dear friend Emmy, I’ve added another photo of Harley and the ornament 🙂 in my latest post. Thanks for the compliment, I struggle with photos all the time. The Boys are great subjects but it’s me who has the issues! Merry Christmas my friend & thanks so much for following the Boys!
December 27, 2015
Cathy, Harley & Jax,
End of the year crunch reverted me from doing any blogging, but I’ve spent the weekend catching on on blog reading. Just wanted to say this was a lovely post and I hope yours was a wonderfully pawsome ‘howliday.’ Best wishes for a super 2016! 🙂
Your friends at Tails Around the Ranch,
Monika & Sam
December 28, 2015
Hey Monika – I feel you with the “crunch” thingy… We weren’t the least bit organized, but it came (Christmas) just the same. The holidays were filled with chaos and mayhem but it was wonderful. Hope you had a great one yourself my friend. Let’s get ready for 2016!!!!!
