A DOG A CHILD AND A BOX

The other weekend I was mesmerized for hours as a dog a child and a box shared a magical time together…

To me, there is nothing sweeter than observing a child and a dog interact.

Their innocence combined with love for a carefree life and a touch of kindness towards one another gives me hope for humanity. I feel inspired to be better. #akinderme

HERE’S WHAT HAPPENED –

They started out playing with a couple of balls. But interest in that game started to dwindle after a few throws.

Jaxson does quite well with catching and retrieving. #runningbackdoodle

Unfortunately his quarterbacks arm isn’t quite NFL ready – therefore the ball didn’t travel very far! #twofeet

Boredom settled in quickly for both the Doodle and his mini human friend. #yawn

I HAD AN IDEA –

Who hasn’t experienced a kitchen floor covered with the latest and greatest toys – yet the child gravitates to the tupperware containers? #tellthetruth

I came back with a box!…

amazedOne that was the pawfect size!

Since it once housed food and treats from chewy.com, Harley was extremely interested and sniffed each and every crevice…

His probing behavior set off a series of lil’ girl giggles which filled the air…

With the unlimited creative imagination that only a child can possess, she pretended the box was her kitchen…

And even stopped Harley from eating before her meal was ready for consumption…

Keep in mind to a child, the use of a box is only limited to what her mind allows.

So later, the “kitchen” became a suitcase to store Jaxson’s balls…

Once she gathered all the balls, she would sprint back to the screened in porch…

A dog and a child interacting with each other can be fascinating. Throw a box into the mix and witness something magical occur. I pawmise!

Gosh, these pictures are so beautiful and so much fun. I agree, there’s nothing quite so magical as a child and a dog.

I love the box idea. So many wonderful things and games to be created with a box. Wish I still had that kind of imagination!

Thanks! I love watching the imagination of both the child and the Dood! It was a great afternoon, so I wanted to share it with you. Hope it made you smile 🙂

Boxes are so multi-functional Mr. N. and they come in so many different sizes too!

What a great idea you came up with! Those two certainly enjoyed their multi-functional toy, and it was quite adorable to see too! It’s a joy to see children using their imaginations like that.

It reminded me of the days of old (as my grandmother used to say) when all fun was based on what kids made up. No electronic games, no computers, just some junk that they found and lot’s of imagination. Those were the days…

They definitely were!! We used to use sticks to draw houses in the dirt and then played in them. What fun! Many kids these days just don’t know what they’re missing.

Who you telling Jan? Kids these days don’t have a clue when it comes to having fun. We were so freaking creative…. Like Archie Bunker’s theme song “Those were the days!” LOL

That’s so cute! And, gosh, boxes…. thought those were only for cats. 😉

(And, yes, I agree with you and Jan K… remembering the good old days when we could imagine all sorts of things! I never had a princess dress, but I became many princesses! I never had a toy car, train or horse, but the sofa could be any of them! Those definitely were the good old days!) 🙂

HA! Hey Jackie – don’t you remember playing in the dirt, making mud pies? Using Dandelions for toppings? Those were the best years of our lives. Just plain dirty imaginative fun…

Do either of you remember the TV show Wagon Train? We used to pretend our beds were covered wagons and we all would be different characters from the show……. 🙂

    That is so sweet!!

My niece has grown up around my dogs and she adores them as they do her. Over the years she has become quite the dog handler (she’s 15 now) and helps when she is visiting with various activities involving the dogs.

It’s amazing that boxes can be the BEST form of entertainment! We use plain old boxes for nosework and we can get away with hours of work – I actually have pizza boxes set aside for entertainment. I love these pics of the box “party” these two had in your yard!

Thanks Christine. I would have never thought a box would be so entertaining for both a child and a dog, but I stand corrected. Can’t wait to order a new refrigerator LOL That will be a McMansion for them 🙂

You think so Emma? The Boys would love that we just need to find the right cat. Is Bert available for a long distance doodle romp?

She is my grand niece who I just met when we moved here in the fall. She is two years old and has a vocabulary that is out of this world. She loves the Boys and they are so gentle with her, that they’ve become fast and furious friends!

So fun! I grew up with a dog in my family and I wouldn’t trade the experience for anything. She was my best friend and I’m sure she still watches over me from Heaven. It looks like Jax is creating quite the relationship! 🙂

You are so blessed Robin. I didn’t grow up with dogs, so this is so much fun for me to watch. Yes – the three of them are becoming fast and furious friends. It’s so cute!

You’re right Monika – it was the perfect afternoon, the weather was beautiful, the doods were enjoying the mini human’s company and the box was the frosting on top!
