THE BIG BARKER DOG BED CHALLENGE –

By Wednesday, June 22, 2022 6 No tags Permalink

The Boys and I have accepted the Big Barker Dog Bed Challenge, and I am happy to say – I am excited about it!

When the boxes showed up on the front porch, my husband yelled –

Cathy, what’s a big barker dog bed, and why are there two at the front door?

Based on my track record for purchasing dog beds – this is a legitimate question for Lee (aka Doodle Dad) to ask me. When I count, (if I use both hands) I can honestly say – we’ve had a few over the last 13 years.

In my defense though… each and every time, I sincerely thought I’d finally found AND purchased the correct dog bed.

I therefore felt validated to use human logic as I responded back to his question. I reminded him –

on average humans change mattresses every 7-10 years.

He was neither amused or impressed. #canIgeteforeffort

I’M NOT PAWFECT –

nor do I try to be. My ultimate goal is for them to have the right beds for their age, size and activity levels.

Harley’s aging joints concern me. Mornings are tough for him. He struggles with stiff bones #Icanrelate If there’s a dog bed out there to aid in a more relaxed rested sleep – I want to know about it – I want to try it.

Jax moves around a lot at night. At some point, he will finally flop down on the hardwood floor and I cringe because it sounds like he’s going to fracture his elbow bone. #theydohaveelbows

So when Big Barker and I connected (I’ve been stalking their social media ads) about testing the beds,

I was like –

Oh yeah baby – let’s do this!

Two large sofa editions arrived a few days later, and as you can see Jax joined me in my excitement…

OUR BED HISTORY –

includes three of the five types of different dog beds –

  • Bolster
  • Pillow
  • Elevated
  • Orthopedic
  • Tent

The last bed I ordered earlier this year was a bolstered couch version designed like an amphitheater. This appealed to me because –

  • both Boys curl when they sleep
  • the raised sides gave them support as they slept
  • the amphitheater-style provided Harley with easy access in and out.

As time moved on, I began to notice they still curl, mostly when napping, but in the evening they don’t remain in those positions long. Late at night they both transition to the floor to stretch out. I know because I hear Jax banging those bones on the floor.

THE JOINT CRISIS –

is real…

Big Barker is the only dog bed clinically proven to improve quality of life for big dogs. Better rest, less pain, more mobility. Uniquely engineered to keep dogs youthful for longer and bring older dogs back to their best.

Big Barker

Between Harley’s aging and Jaxson’s increased therapy work activity, a Big Barker bed seems to be the right choice for both Doods.

28 DAYS –

that’s the Big Barker Dog Bed Challenge!

a clinical study conducted by University of Pennsylvania, owners reported that the Big Barker bed reduced joint pain and stiffness, improved joint function and gait, and led to improved nighttime restfulness in large dogs with arthritis.

Big Barker

New clinical study data finds a Big Barker bed can improve health in just 28 days! So we are going to give this test a try. I opened the boxes on June 18th. That means I should see significant changes at least by July 16th.

I’ve marked my calendar for the mid-challenge date (July 2nd).

I’ll be looking for –

  • improvement in joint function
  • reduction in joint stiffness
  • improvement in gait and quality of life

Based on Harley’s initial reaction, he may make this challenge way too easy. He climbed up and took a nap immediately after the bed came out of the box. Cellophane from the packaging still under the bed…

Let sleeping dogs lie ❤️

Thank you for sharing. This is relevant for us too. My husband cringes every time I bring home more beds- he just looks at me and says “really?” I pretty much ignore him.
Will be checking into the big barker bed for Gracie Mae and Savannah Blu!

Hey Debbie – Lee doesn’t understand – he tries but he just doesn’t get it. I did have him sit on the old bed and then the barker bed – he was able to admit there was a significant difference – I consider this a start!!! I am asking Big Barker if they would be okay offering my readers a discount – paws crossed this happens. Stay tuned.
      Thanks for reading…

Good luck trying out this newest bed. Like you, I have numerous ones scattered throughout the house. I only wish I could afford the Big Barkers for both my guys. Sigh.

Your comment resonates with me – I can certainly relate to the cost – so much so, that I want to see if Big Barker will provide a discount for Harley and Jaxson’s friends. I will definitely keep you posted. Hope you have a wonderful weekend my friend…
