A DAY AT THE SPA | MONDAY MISCHIEF

I must not be living right! I’ve never had a mud bath nor have I had a blueberry facial. But there I was driving Harley to Olde Towne Pet Resort for a day at the spa!

 Here’s how it started…

“I know that Harley always comes for grooming on Fridays and this Friday is like no other. We have a new product mud bath and blueberry facial so we will give these extra services to Harley this Friday before his groom. I am so excited that we are offering these services and that we can share this with our Harley. And the day before he is on live TV!”

 Perhaps this was why…

Earlier in the month – they asked if Harley could join them on the FOX 5 GOOD MORNING DC show as they discussed pet safety and precautions on Halloween. Now he has a day at the spa – the day before!

Yes, I chuckled after reading the email – I mean who wouldn’t? My dog was just offered a mud bath and blueberry facial. Hey – NEWS FLASH – I’ve never had a blueberry facial!

I dropped in a few days before his appointment to visit with Fernando (Grooming manager and Harley’s groomer). I wanted to discuss the process along with the products. After all, this “is” my Harley-Darley.

 Here’s what I found out –

The mud bath product they were using came from:

Screen-Shot-2014-11-02-at-6.26.36-PM

Madra Mór Mud is premixed with nourishing beneficial ingredients to form a creamy luxurious mud bath that provides a gentle, deep clean without suds, lather or bubbles!

Clay when moistened with water makes Mud. Naturally absorbent and extremely gentle on the system; cleansing, detoxifying and healing with mud is as old as man-kind. Many people maintain health with therapeutic mud baths at resorts and spas. It’s skin nourishment!

Mud therapy restores and rejuvenates the body; enhancing circulation and boosting nutrients. Madra Mor muds uses these same principles conveniently and luxuriously blended together with mother nature’s finest ingredients to achieve results. It’s skin nourishment for dogs!

They offer four unique and different treatments…

Mobility Mud: the perfect amount of peppermint & menthol for the skin to feel cool & refreshed! A stimulating, energizing mud bath treatment for healthy skin, a soft coat and relief from minor aches and pains…

Soothing Mud: the ultimate Zen mud bath, infused with a unique blend of mother nature’s finest ingredients that calm, comfort and promote healing…

Shed Safely Mud: this is a deep cleaning, sweet smelling mud bath, that flows with hydrating omega oils and is pumped full of B vitamins to help relieve and prevent excessive shedding…

Flea Relief Mud: a holistic mud bath loaded with fortifying ingredients; Diatomaceous Earth that is rich in silica and apple cider vinegar that packs nutrients…

Harley would experience the “Mobility Mud” treatment.

On “mud day”, I set up my camera to film the “activity.” Secretly I figured I could live “vicariously” through Harley. BOL

Notice the thickness of the mud, it looked like I thought it would – but smelled much better than I imagined. It CANNOT be applied anywhere near the face, and should be massaged into the skin for at least 10 minutes…

CAUTION: No mud above the neckline

Once the mud was applied, it was time for South Bark’s blueberry facial. I’ve got to tell you, that stuff smelled amazing!

You can use it as a face wash, body shampoo and overall brightener. It’s all natural, – PH balanced, and safe for both cats and dogs. Just place a “dab” on a wet warm washcloth – and apply it to your pet’s face. Massage it over the area for 1-2 minutes – then rinse.

Harley seemed to love both the smell – and the taste! He kept licking his lips…

It smells amazing...

It smells amazing…

If you’re wondering about Harley’s reaction to all of this pampering, he wasn’t fazed much at all…

I definitely would like to incorporate this into our regiment perhaps twice a year. However, I don’t think I would do it myself. #notthatbrave

It’s been more than a week, and I can still see the difference in his face, and to be honest, he’s still smells pretty good too.

“Thank you” Olde Towne Pet Resort to such a luxurious treat for a really special Doodle.

DISCLAIMER: This is not a product review. I just wanted to share Harley’s spa day experience with you. Before trying anything new, I recommend you seek advice from your groomer and/or veterinarian.

Emma, trust me when I tell you – I discussed that in great detail. I would have fallen out and died if Harley turned blue BOL It’s super safe for white and light colored haired pups.

We used to use dog bluing on our Miniature Schnauzer and it made him a brilliant white. I would love for Bentley to try the Shed Safely Mud. Can we buy it? I am so glad that Harley got the super star treatment he so deserves!

Wow, what a treat! I’m sure our pups Missy & Buzz would enjoy the mud bath & blueberry facial as well…especially Buzz. He has a thing for trying to lick of lotions and my face masks whenever I apply them…LOL!

We LOVE Olde Town Pet Resort ~ used to take the pups there for swim sessions in their doggie pool & for day camps when we had long days. Gosh, I really miss living in NoVa!!

I’m like you, never had a mud treatment or facial either. My dogs would NOT enjoy either so I wouldn’t put them through it. But they sure would love it if I would take them swimming in the OTPR pool!

The OTPR pool is cool too! I always wanted to jump in when Harley was in there #nocustomersallowed.

Oh my goodness – he’s so cute when he’s wet! I’ve never had a facial myself either – and neither has Rita. But… I have done the mud bath thing. The hubs and I have gone a couple of times. There’s a natural hot springs and mud bath place not toooo far from her, so we’ve gone up and slapped all that mud on ourselves. It leaves your skin feeling so soft! Rita would probably love the mud bath part – if it was on her own terms! If not, she’d be trying to jump out of the tub!

Wow Harley, you definitely seem to enjoy your spa day more than I do my bath. Maybe my mom should consider the spa as an alternative to the DIY bath for me!! Shasta
