STORE BOUGHT OR HOME MADE TREATS?

Does your dog prefer store bought or home made treats?

One of our rituals after their grooming appointments are for the Boys to sniff, shop and nibble at the gourmet treat table sampling a “few” as I purchase a “few.”

STORE BOUGHT –

Woof Gang Bakery‘s goodies are always decorated with Michelo Angelo pawfection. Sometimes I’m even tempted to taste one myself!…

I know right? Tempting even to the human palate

Notice how close Harley gets before this photo is taken? I rushed to get the lens in focus because I just knew at any moment he was going to take the cap off of one of those “woof lights.”

HOME MADE –

I was so excited to whip up my DIY tasty treats a few weeks ago. But notice the football field distance between Harley and his bowl…

Talk about a picture being worth a thousand words…

Trust me, there was no rushing required to snap this picture.

Should I have dipped mine in icing? LOL

Every master was once a disaster ❤️

Wordless Wednesday is a simple blog post featuring a photo which conveys a message that speaks for itself without using words

We definitely do both. I make them sweet potato treats particularly closer to the holiday season. In all actuality, I don’t give the boys too many treats anymore but when they do, it’s usually something duck or sweet potato, their favorites. 🙂

Now that I’ve got their weight under control, I am super conscience about how many treats they receive – which I never really thought about before. How are you doing?

I’m guessing he’s for the store bought treats. I can’t say I blame him. They do look mighty tasty.

Thank you for joining the Wordless Wednesday Blog Hop.

Have a fabulous Wordless Wednesday. ♥

Sandee, he did finally eat the homemade treat, but it was hell on my self esteem for a few days LOL Thanks for hosting 🙂

We think a mix of homemade and store/online treats is just right. Each have their own positives and negatives. The main thing is to buy good, healthy treats, not doggy junk food which is super abundant, but one can weed through that and find the good stuff. Those decorated cookies you found are super fun!

I am so particular with where I buy their treats and what kind, I never feel guilty. I was just stunned at the different look I caught on camera when Harley was offered the store bought then homemade treat. At the end of the day – they loved both of them.

Those Woof Gang treats do look good enough for human consumption! Excellent control Harley. Me impressed!

As far as treats that Bernie and Lizzie enjoy? They get equally excited when I pull out the Whimzees box as they do when I pull out the homemade anti-aging salmon treats from the freezer.

Now for training treats that’s a whole different story. While I try to use WetNoses Little Stars as much as possible, those are tiny hard treats. Bernie and Lizzie much prefer softer chewier treats for rewards, so my treat bag usually has at least three different kinds of treats! And if I run out while on a field trip? Well, Doodle Enthusiasm might be running rampant then:)

I try not to use treats when training, I use praise and then we run around the yard like crazy chasing each other for a few seconds. On occasion I will use a treat, and when I do, they go insane for cheddar cheese. It works all the time!

That’s too funny! If he’s a normal dog, my guess is he ate both with gusto.

He finally gave mine a try, seemed to enjoy it but not enough to satisfy my self-esteem 🙂 I guess there are some who do and there are some who buy LOL

Those treats look too adorable to eat!! I’m not finding time to make homemade treats right now with all that’s going on in life. But, I do look for store-bought ones that have *real* ingredients and little to no preservatives.

Lisa, I agree. I’m at the point where I purchase treats from a very select group of vendors. Many of what I buy come from Woof Gang bakeries (and they are a franchise, so look to see if there’s one located near you). There’s also a company called Roxie and Rocco that uses all natural ingredients and my Boys LOVE their crispy crunchy liver treats.

Luke is not fussy at all, either kind works for him! We do both, since I make my organic dog cookies to sell. Luke always gets the oldest stock or the ones that might get overcooked (yeah, I do that!). I’m the one who is picky about what he gets! We have a few quality store-bought favorites that we mostly stick with, and occasionally we’ll try something new.

Girlfriend I have seen your treats. You rival the store-bought versions! Mine on the other hand, leave a great deal to be desired – especially according to Harley! LOL
