FOUR LEGGED TWO YEAR OLD

If you’ve ever had a four legged two year old living in your house, then you can relate to my current situation…

FOUR LEGGED TWO YEAR OLD

Sure he may look like an angel when he’s sleeping…

FOUR LEGGED TWO YEAR OLD

But one day recently that “angel” woke up transformed into a 70-lb dictator possessing this uncanny ability to know exactly how far to push me towards utter insanity before reverting to a lovable cuddle-monster #devildoodle

Some consider this to be a dog’s adolescence period. I’m calling it the Doodle Tweens…

FOUR LEGGED TWO YEAR OLD

They say adolescence hits at different times depending on the dog. As a general rule, larger breeds usually mature more slowly. Yet the changes in personality that accompany this stage can take place overnight.

MEMORY LOSS –

That’s what he must have #mydiagnosis When I call his name, he runs in the opposite direction #whyJesuswhy…

FOUR LEGGED TWO YEAR OLD

Some experts call it “increased independence.” I call it #badtothedoodlebone

UNDESIRABLE BEHAVIOR –

The other day, I left the house and homeboy threw a temper tantrum! #losthiseverlovingdoodlemind Doodle Dad said he jumped up on the couch and started throwing all the pillows off because I didn’t take him with me.

I fixed that quick – #doodlemomkryptonite

MY SECRET WEAPON? –

An empty soda can with a few pennies in it…

FOUR LEGGED TWO YEAR OLD

Jerry Seinfeld said it best and described Jaxson pawfectly –

Having a two year old is like having a blender that you don’t have the top for.

I used to have a beautiful bush in the backyard. It “used” to stand about 3 feet tall.

We were all outside, playing football, having a lovely afternoon. I went to my laundry room to move my clothes from the washing machine to the dryer. Not long. My beautiful bush no more. It’s gone. #allateup

Notice the last of the tree limb hanging out of the side of #killerdoodles mouth…

FOUR LEGGED TWO YEAR OLD

I don’t think he’s bored. The Boys lead a very active life. He’s just in this awkward, active, annoying phase of his life. Harley’s even running away from him!

WHAT TO DO –

I’ve heard increased exercise and mental stimulation (for him) is the key to MY survival during this period in HIS life. #doodlelifeline

During the week…

FOUR LEGGED TWO YEAR OLD

From everything I’ve read, this is a phase, a natural progression as he gets closer to his 2nd birthday (New Years Eve).

Between Doodle Dad’s help and my red wine, I believe I’m gonna make it.

If you live in the Charleston area and you’re riding down the road, This is how we roll…

FOUR LEGGED TWO YEAR OLD

Who else is suffering from the Canine “tweens?”

Be “Friday Fabulous” all day today ❤️

Yep! I remember those years so well — and my favorite dog walker said to me: “you have a teenager!” When Dash went through it .. he did it without annoying me too much (that’s how Dash rolls) When Lilly went through it … batten down the hatches! Wouldn’t come when called… wouldn’t get down when told … went for a long walk and then wanted to play more more more! Yep it’s that phase. Better buy a case of wine!!

A case? I need my own winery!

My 4 and 11 year old are ‘toddlers’ though the 4 year old is a Ninja devil most of time. Thank goodness for wine, eh?

Girl, I’ve got a glass next to my computer right now! I cannot wait to meet you – we are such kindred spirits!

We feel your pain, and Bailie says she wants to hang with Jaxson! Bailie is 3 1/2 and had regressed in behavior, not gone forward. She too gets more than enough mental and physical exercise, but she simply enjoys being naughty, shredding beds, jumping on the furniture, etc, and she doesn’t care if I’m right there or not. We are not sure she will ever out grow this phase. Mom has simply accepted it, and tries to laugh when she can. At least she is enjoying life is what I often hear from Mom when Bailie is being naughty again.

Tell your mom, I chalk it up to this is just who Jaxson is – so far, he’s not destroyed anything, he’s just “busy” all – the – time!

Totally! Piper will be 2 on Christmas Eve. Let’s hope Baby Jesus blesses our home with calming spirits! So much of the time she is an adorable snuggle bug, but my chewed up wood blinds and need to have a lid on every trashcan remind me that the devil(doodle) is in the details! And of course my perfect lil Wrigley man (as I am sure is true with Harley) never did this!… at least not that I recall!

Our homes are so identical it’s scary. Does Wrigley just watch Piper sometimes with a look like “Dude?” Harley does! I often think if Jaxson washy FIRST doodle – he could easily have been an only pet LOL

I am suffering from the tweens with my 5 yr old Chessie. Thought he would grow out of it by now.

They say some never do, I’m believing Jaxson is going to be that way too!

I don’t remember which dog it was, but I do remember someone calling it “the terrible twos”. I just hope for your sake it doesn’t last the whole time Jaxson is two – especially since he’s not even quite there yet!
I won’t tell you that Luke still has some of those spells, even at three. 🙂

Doodle Tweens – Harley never had them, Leo showed signs every now and again. Jax I’ve already accepted – will have traits his entire life. He’s just a character and that makes him irresistible…

LMAO at your #badtothedoodlebone comment. Oh I do not miss these days of stubbornness and in general, the driving mom and dad nuts business. It’ll pass, it just sometimes has to get worse before it gets better.

What a little bugger eating your bushes!! Naughty, naughty boy. 😉

    xoxo

He is bad to the doodle bone! But I wouldn’t have him any other way! I know he’ll grow out of this #devildoodleness but I am relishing it all the same. He’s a character – but he’s my character XOXO

Thank goodness we are mostly past that!
Dante was a psycho when he was one, he’s still a maniac at the age of 4 but I think we’re heading the right direction. 🙂

Ducky is going through them a second time. This dog is going to make me crazy! But I love her to the moon and back.

Oh noooooo – no one told me there could be a repeat performance of this behavioral nightmare LOL
