I’ve created a monster! Harley has become a drive-through window addict.
Although drive-through windows are often very convenient, Doodle Dad has ruined its beauty for me. Years ago, he experienced a few “mishaps” with the drive through window resulting with his order either incomplete or totally wrong 🙁 Since then I’ve always felt “cursed” after hearing this because on more than one occasion his theory has proven to be correct. #sadtosay
Nevertheless, I still “drive through” from time to time. #bornoptimist Primarily because Harley is usually riding around with me. Between the two of us we have our favorites – MacDonalds, and Chic-Fil-A. I like their chicken nuggets and he devours his complimentary scoop of ice cream! #pleasedontjudgeus
When he rides around in the car, he generally lays down. But as soon as I apply the brakes near the menu order sign, homeboy pops up like a “Doodle in the box”…
No different than his “partners in crime” he listens intently as I place the order…
I’ve perfected a system now that enables him to lick to his doodle hearts content and I don’t get ice cream all over the back seat.
For all you ice cream loving pup parents out there:
- ask for it in a child’s size drinking cup
- peel the cup back to right above the ice cream level
- continue to peel as the ice cream goes down
I accept full responsibility for the monster I’ve created. I’m even thinking about putting this poster in our Doodleville office..
After all, with the crazy Doodle life that Harley’s living, I think it’s certainly fitting, don’t you?…

Yum! We don’t blame you Harley, we love ice cream. Although sometimes it makes us puke!
December 29, 2014
OMD – not the pukes! When Harley was a puppy it used to give him the “runs” – pawhaps you will outgrow the pukes soon too!

Just look at those smiles!

I know right? Warms my heart Talent Hounds!

Harley is living the life that’s for sure!
December 29, 2014
Based on all the joy he brings to me and all who he meets – it’s the least I can do for him Slim. Love that Doodle 🙂 PS: Don’t worry though – ice cream treats are in moderation LOL
December 29, 2014
It looks to me like everyone in that car is having fun, so I say that is a good thing!

You need to go out west to a Jack in the Box drive through and have the doodle pop up going on! Enjoy, and we love Dr. Seuss too 🙂
December 29, 2014
Dr. Seuss is the best Emma, he never ever gets old 🙂 I remember Jack in the Box from NYC when I was a teenager. You’re right, Harley popping up and down would be a hoot indeed!

Don’t feel bad. We are dog food snobs, and sooo picky about the food our dogs eat…EXCEPT when we are out and about! I can’t tell you how many times our dogs have gotten a “plain’ hamburger or whipped cream from a cup in starbucks.
December 31, 2014
Oohhh Andrea – I am a Starbucks fanatic. I’ve never thought about whipped cream in a cup from them when Harley looks at me as if to say “alright, you’ve got your coffee, now what about me?” I’ll have to check that out! Thanks friend!
December 29, 2014
Can’t tell a lie.. We have been known to go through the McDonalds drive thru and get hamburgers for all of us! And, the doodles certainly know how a drive thru works now!! Good job Harley!
December 31, 2014
Ain’t nothing wrong with that Deidre! We can’t eat salad or kibble everyday 🙂 LOL
December 29, 2014
Zoe and Phoenix like going through the drive-thru, too!! 😀
December 31, 2014
Lauren – I love to watch Harley go through – he looks as if he’s actually smiling. I also crack up as all the employees run to the window to see him. It just makes everyone happy!
December 29, 2014
oh you know I love you Harley!! So cute with a wee little bit of ice cream on your whiskers.
Nice to see you have a couple playmates along for the ride. Mom, you’re hilarious. LeeAnna at not afraid of color

oh my dogs know the drive up window and get pissed if they don’t get a biscuit.
December 30, 2014
What a clever idea for puppy ice cream! I bet Harley is glad you figured that out because I’m sure he’d hate for you to forego ice cream because it made your seats all dirty.
BTW, my favorite drive-thru window story of all time came from Rescued Insanity. It still makes me laugh out loud: http://rescuedinsanity.com/2012/10/10/shiva-1-human-0-2/
Don’t let Harley read it. We wouldn’t want him getting any ideas.
December 30, 2014
Pamela – I’m definitely in the mood for something funny to read, so I will hop over there right now and check it out!
December 30, 2014
Hah! That’s hilarious. At least you have a good system for the ice cream! I wouldn’t mind getting ice cream through a drive through either 😉
December 31, 2014
Hi Liz! Nice to meet you! I agree – a little ice cream from time to time is good – getting it from the drive through makes it ever better! Happy New Year and thanks so much for stopping by, please don’t be a stranger! I just hopped over to your place and WOW! so happy I did. I’ve got you in my bloglovin feed now!
