Doodle Dads “got” skills!

No magic wand, or secret potion. Just a useful tool he found around the house and a little bit of patience.

He doesn’t really say “abracaDoodledabra” either – yet he’s mastered (without magic) to hold Jaxson’s undivided attention when we’re out and about.

It’s pretty impressive…

Dogs, cats, strollers, skateboards – you name it – nothing can make Jaxson take his eyes off the #doodlewizard

abr-7Now I know what you’re thinking. But you’re wrong! There’s no food or treats involved.

CARE TO GUESS? –

Okay, the answer’s behind the curtain. Make sure to tell us what “you” thought it was in your comments below.

READY? –

Using something Jaxson loves has made it really easy to teach him how to pay attention.

So now – just like American Express – we…

DON'T

Today be the reason someone believes in the goodness of people ❤️

    Hi,
I’m thinking it’s the same thing our granddoodle brings with him pretty much everywhere, a squeaky ball.
    Have a great day.
    Smiles,
    Cheryl

You are “spot-on” Cheryl 🙂 He loves that squeaky little ball.

We are pretty good about paying attention when we want to pay attention

I bet you both are really good, the question is …. how often do you WANT to pay attention LOL For Jaxson – it comes and goes!

Wish something that simple would work with cats! We love the name DoodleWizard for your dad. XOCK, Lily Olivia, Mauricio, Misty May, Giulietta, Fiona, Astrid, Lisbeth and Calista Jo

For him to convert Jaxson that quickly with a silly little ball – I’d say he earned the name “Doodle Wizard” Take care lil’ Kitties

    A magical blue ball?

    • Cathy Bennett
      September 9, 2016

Yep! The squeaky one I brought back from the conference earlier this year. He loves it – but then he loves any and all balls for that matter.

Is it some sort of fantastic toy? Maybe a ball?

    • Cathy Bennett
      September 9, 2016

It’s a weird prickly ball, big enough for him to catch and have fun with and yet small enough for Doodle Dad’s pocket or my purse!

Bailie’s squeaky ball has the same effect, but isn’t real practical to carry along with us and we can’t ever lose it!

Unlike Leo, Jaxson is an equal opportunist when it comes to balls – the only favorite is the one in his mouth!

I thought of a squeaky ball.
Could have been a live squirrel I guess, that would have held Cole’s attention!

      September 9, 2016

Neither have attempted to chase a squirrel, but then I don’t recall seeing that many here in SC. How are you my friend?

Way to go Doodle Dad. Alas that pawsome magic won’t work with Sam; he’d look (briefly) at me with a “why did you throw that?” look. Then he’d resume what he was doing. #ohthatdog! 🙂

Monika – Sam doesn’t do the ball thing (like Harley) either? Harley rolls on his back balancing the ball in his mouth and calls that exercise!

Corgis don’t get excited over balls Taryn? Sure they do 🙂

Did someone say ball??? I don’t know on doodle who isn’t a little obsessed with tennis balls!!! 🙂

    • Cathy Bennett

You got that right Spencer. Anything that rolls is right up Jaxson’s alley.

That’s awesome. Too bad our Pyrenean Mastiff and Tibetan Spaniels have only a marginal interest in their toys. Even food isn’t enough to sway our Khydn when he’s out on a walk (which is definitely among the top of his all-time-favourite things), *Grins.*

I’m not one for off leash walks but when we’re working on the yard, I want them to be able to come out and join us – in the front yard I don’t want them distracted by strollers, bikes, other leashed dogs on walks. So far Jaxson’s been doing really well.

Cute video! I wish Rita was more into her toys so we could do the same! Very smart!

    • Cathy Bennett
      September 9, 2016

Is Rita motivated by food? I bet there’s a really cool toy out there that she’d like a lot…

  • Robin
    September 7, 2016

That must be the best toy ever! It is pretty amazing that Doodle Dad has figured out how to make a pawsome game out of this. That is what dads are for! So cute to see how happy Harley and Jaxson are. 🙂

      September 9, 2016

Robin, Harley and Jaxson stay happy! I love it too! Even when I’m not. And yes, Doodle Dad gets a star for this little trick.

We had a feeling it was some type of toy. Your Doodle Wizard Dad is pretty smart.

The only problem now is that since I’ve written this post the magic blue ball seems to be missing OMDoodle!

I was close, I was going to guess tennis ball!

Balls, balls, any type of balls will do for Mr. Jax!

    September 7, 2016

If it were my guys – I would say hot dogs 🙂 but with your beautiful Doodles I’m going to also say a ball of some kind. Or a spoon with peanut butter on the end? You must tell us in a future post!

    • Cathy Bennett
      September 8, 2016

Hot dogs would work with Harley Christine, but nothing motivates Jaxson like a ball 🙂

    Ahhh… A boy and his ball. 🙂

P.S. A couple of days ago, I tried coming to your site while I was at work and I was stopped by filters, saying it was blocked by our filters as spam/inappropriate, to which I almost spat out my mouth full of water. LOL.. But it’s working again from work, so that’s good.

      September 9, 2016

BOL – Lindsay, we’ve been called many things, but never “inappropriate!” Glad to hear you can have some Doodle fun once again while you’re at work!

  • Jean Dion
    September 8, 2016

That’s hilarious! I wish mine were similarly toy obsessed. Sadly the pug is a treats-or-we-go-home kind of guy. Nothing else will do the trick.

I’ve been blessed three times Jean – Praise seems to be fine when we’re out and about. If anything, we usually stop for ice cream and they all seem to like that!

I guessed it was a ball, because I know our crew is mesmerized by them! I don’t think to take them on walks too often though, and I think I need to get one that squeaks just for that purpose.

    • Cathy Bennett
      September 12, 2016

Yes, it’s got to squeak!! That’s the most important part. That and the fact it needs to fit in your pocket.
