12TH ANNUAL SPRINGFIELD COMMUNITY BRIDGE WALK – A SALUTE TO THOSE WHO SERVE

“Springfield families and local businesses were invited to walk across Veterans Bridge on a late summer night and participate in the 12th Annual Springfield Community BridgeWalk.”

When our good furrends at Olde Towne Pet Resort asked us to join them for an early evening stroll honoring our local veterans and their families, we just couldn’t say no!

“Participants march across the Veteran’s Bridge led by a color guard from the American Legion and Veterans of Foreign Wars to the American Legion Plaza for an old fashioned community celebration.”

When we arrived, Harley & Leo acted as if they hadn’t seen Katy or Danielle in years. Love fest “doodle style” was in full swing…

Live music by the Kings Park Concert Band filled the air as the crowd waited in anticipation. It was a nice surprise to bump into Twister (another OTPR anipal) out and about to show support…

Light refreshments and prizes from local businesses were included in the festivities all along the Plaza area…

I made the mistake of placing “Wilson” on the table because Leo kept dropping it. Next thing I knew – Leo stood up on his back legs to make sure his beloved ball was safe…

Harley must have thought we had treats on the table and didn’t tell him. Up he jumped…

Turns out with him up there – more people were coming around to pick up pamphlets, giveaways and register for the drawing. They allowed him to stay there…

When the soldiers and their families were within view, Harley stood to get a better look..

DISCLAIMER: I never taught him how or when to pose. He’s a self taught hamdoodle…

After a while Leo joined him and the cameras kept flashing…

As a military spouse of an Army Infantryman for so many years, I have this tremendous soft spot in my heart for the men and women of all branches of service who so faithfully serve our country. I loved the whole military experience, and I have more memories to cherish than one could possibly imagine. It is an honor and a pleasure to support those who risk so much to protect us.

Thank you OTPR for being so community conscience and having us with you. We were happy to be there. It was a good day…

Thanks fur reading, let’s keep all who serve in our prayers…
