The other day I wrote on my FB page: “I love God, my husband, my family (two and four legs), and Charleston, SC.” I am obsessed with that place, can’t get enough, have always wanted to live there, and for many reasons:
- DH was born and raised there
- His family still resides there
- DD went to college there
- I love the climate, it’s people, cuisine, culture, and rich heritage….
If you’ve never been, please place it on your “bucket list”, it’s one of those “got to do” type of visits.
We packed up The Boys and drove down there last week. The morning after we arrived, I thought I would get a few hours of “Doodle work” done. Harley however, saw my computer bag and notepad out and let me know this wasn’t on his agenda, and sat in my “spot”…
It was my intention to take them downtown (one of my favorite places – “Market Street”) later in the afternoon, but someone was ready to leave “now” so we did!…
I love this picture because while this young man thought Harley was really “feeling him” I knew Harley was “feeling” his frozen yogurt. I prayed silently that he didn’t stick his tongue in it….
Street corners are our furrends! We just stand there and meet the most interesting and furrendliest people…
You’ve often heard me reference how my life with The Boys is “like a box of chocolates.” A statement that reminds us of the movie, and a metaphor to remind us of life’s little surprises. Here we sit in front of BUBBA GUMPS, an outdoor “pet furrendly” restaurant. This was one of Harley’s first restaurant experiences…
Charleston in my dreams is the real “Doodleville” it fits my lifestyle so well. All I need is my Boys, my camera and some poop bags dangling from my camera strap – HA! I’m set…
We always find children…
And we’re guaranteed to pull a crowd…
Once I’d had my “Charleston fix” it was time for them to have some fun in this 70 degree February weather. So back to the house for a little “Wilson” romp…
This went on for what seemed like “hours”…
This is Harley’s “It’s been a good day” look…
Back home to the ice and freezing rain, we are preparing ourselves for our big outing. The Washington Humane Society’s 2014 Sugar & Champagne Affair is tonight! This is their Annual dessert and champagne reception honoring local crusaders against animal cruelty.
We are special guests of our super furrendly sponsors at Olde Towne Pet Resort and there is much “prepping to do.” Our outfits are ready! This year we will be wearing:
- Digital ID collars from PetHub
- Leases from Paracord for Pets
- Neckties (yes, neckties) from Mibo Collars
The Boys and I had a little “chat” this morning while “primping” for this evening. I told them there would be many people and pets there, and they’ve pawmised to be on their best behavior.
Of course I’ll have my camera, but my biggest concern is of a personal nature. I’ve never attended an event with The Boys wearing heels! Hummm….
…I know right? Well keep your fingers crossed and we’ll let you know all about the fun when I write again…

Cathy,
Enjoyed seeing the boys hanging out on the streets of Chaleston in the warm weather. Tonight’s affair will be a great time for you and the boys and you’ll have no problems walking in those heels!!!

Yvonne, I love Charleston – you would think I was born there! Heels did okay, but they had to come off before the evening was over. See the follow up story for details.
Thanks for reading.

Looks like a fun time. Mom was laughing about your silent prayer, she says she does a lot of that with us dogs…well mainly just Bailie and I as Katie is much more refined.

I hope your event went smoothly, and I am extra positive that you remained “upright” while restraing the Boys. Lol. On a personal note, my dreams have finally come true, I pick up my little furry bundle of joy on March 1.

Hi Claudette, the event was FABULOUS!! And I didn’t fall (but there was a slight mishap with the heels) – you’ve got to read the follow-up.
March 1st huh? That’s terrific. Details, give me details…..
Take care and I’m very happy for you. Now we can have a play date!
