PUPPY CAKE FOR VALENTINE’S DAY

Roses are red
Violets are blue
We made a cake today
And it was tasty too! 

When Bark Box sent us a “red velvet puppy cake mix” – I told Harley I thought we should wait for Valentine’s Day to bake it…

He is “wired” in such a manner that he seems to never forget anything, so today when he decided to escape down to the neighbors on his own little adventure, I shook the cake mix box as I called him (yes from the middle of my street), and he came strolling back home…

Since this was our first “cake date” I set up a festive little “bistro” table for them. But like any good parent (pet or child) I insisted they wait until after we all ate dinner before we began our baking project…

Harley was extremely inquisitive about the contents of the box. He watched as I mixed all the ingredients…

When I placed it in the oven, he must have thought it was the microwave because he immediately went over to the table area to “position himself” (I guess) for when the cake was ready…

Well poor thing! The cake had to bake for 18 minutes (I didn’t have the heart to tell him about the additional minutes required for cooling), so he waited…

Where was Leo? He was upstairs with “Wilson” his ball playing and having fun…

When the cake was finally done and had cooled off a bit, Leo came down to assist with the icing…

In fact they both did…

And then it was time – DH served them (although Leo didn’t quite grasp “plate etiquette”) and they loved it!
