HOMEMADE DOG ORNAMENTS

I am simply FASCINATED by crafty people. Why? Because I am NOT! When I read the instructions on “how to make your own DIY dog ornament”, I thought “I can do that.”

Again, I’m not very crafty – but I wanted to at least try.

Here’s what they said I’d need:

  • Chenille bump stems (They’re fancy pipe cleaners)
  •  Scissors
  • Tape runner or glue stick
  • Glue gun
  • Mini dollhouse bottlebrush trees (optional)
  • Mini dollhouse candy canes (optional)

They also suggested I get an extra set of helping paws. Mine however, wasn’t interested…

Not interested at all in watching anybody make anything!

I got my supplies together, and I was ready to get started…

I followed the list to the letter!

I followed steps 1 through 8, but when I finished, there was a bit of a discrepancy between the two. This is what theirs looked like…

Cute – huh?

And this is what mine looked like…

What happened Captain?

Go ahead – you can laugh, I’ve got broad shoulders. I think they’re kinda cute in an awkward sort of way. Did you notice I remembered to include “Wilson?”

Not sure by Harley’s reaction if my Doodle Ornament was “pup-approved” or not. He showed no emotion…

I would have felt so much better if he at least tried to eat the head off or something…

What I lack in the arts & crafts department I make up for in confidence. I marched downstairs proud as could be, showed them to DH (he reacted like Harley) then placed my DIY Dog Ornaments upon my tree…

If I had enough time I’d make the whole world a Doodle Ornament

Should you decide between now and Wednesday that you want to have some fun while the cookies are baking in the oven, here’s the link so you’ll have the “original” instructions. Let me know how yours turn out, send pics….

Thanks for reading, I pawmise to keep on writing…

Oh I think they turned out cute! I would put those up on my tree no problem! I’m a little crafty…the queen of starting craft projects and not finishing them…..anytime there is a glue gun involved it could be trouble for me! One of my ideas (when I have free time) is an all dog Christmas tree….stay tuned to see if I get it off the ground for next year (plenty of time….). Way down the road you will love these little ornaments with their happy faces on them!

Kathryn – if you’re gonna take that project on next year, pencil me in. You could give step by step instructions every week like a virtual “how to” class. I’d sign up. Thanks for your kind words. I do have them on the tree, prominently displayed I might add. It makes me smile when I walk into the room, and that works for me! Happy holidays, and thanks so much for reading.

Hey Emma – We think our heads look a little funny, but we’re not going to tell our Doodle Mom that. She is so proud of her art work – HA!
      Thanks for reading
