Imagine my surprise as I pulled into the parking space at Olde Towne Pet Resort to find Ashley standing outside waiting for me. She was holding a clipboard and wearing a smile. She laughed when she saw my quizzical expression and handed me the clip board as she asked “can you sign this permission slip so Harley can go on a field trip?”
As soon as I saw it, I knew I’d need a copy because I just HAD to share this with you. #socute Today my little Doodle-Bug is being whisked away in the pet resort van for a puppy bowl photo/video shoot.
I can’t make this up!
I must have him there NLT 9:30am, and according to the permission slip, he’ll return sometime around 2:00pm. I love how they’ve left lunch as an option. I think I’ll pack one for Harley just in case…
As you saw, I completed the form, and then I let Harley read it to make sure he was okay with everything…
Phew – he was!
Over the weekend I thought it would be a great idea to run through a few drills, make sure his endurance levels were good, work on a few moves in the event he catches the ball. He wasn’t remotely interested…
So I guess we’ll just wing it!
He did start to get a little anxious once he saw his lunchbox. Early Tuesday evening I found him waiting by the door, I had to tell him he was way too early…
For a fleeting moment I thought about tagging along – to watch – take a few photos.
THEN REALITY HIT…
Check back on Monday for our “after the game” highlights.
Be kind to someone and as always, thank you so very much for sharing me with all your friends!

January 28, 2015
So happy you love the lunchbox – it used to be yours! LOL
January 28, 2015
Have fun Harley.
January 28, 2015
I’m sure he will Laverne, I’m sure he will 🙂
January 28, 2015
That’s so cool that you a) have your own lunch box b) are going on a field trip and c) get to be in a puppy bowl photo/video shoot. Can’t wait for the next instalment!
January 28, 2015
Thanks Teresa – I can only imagine what his day was like!
January 28, 2015
I love how you filled out his permission slip and tried (or at least attempted) to practice drills with him! Too cute! I can’t wait to see how it all turned out.
January 28, 2015
Amanda, the permission slip was the cutest ever. And the fact that they were serious about it really made me chuckle (I’m sure they had to do it for insurance purposes) We did try a few drills, but Harley acted like he used to play in the NFL and refused to cooperate. Yes, please come back on Monday – 🙂
January 28, 2015
Too stinking cute-a welcome smile – you go Harley
January 28, 2015
Hey Gail, so happy to hear from you. Happy we were able to lighten your heart a little. Harley seems to have had a great time. He came home, ate, and now he’s snoring 🙂
January 28, 2015
Fabulous!!! I can’t wait to hear all about the field trip!!!! Wonder who Harley sat with on the bus… did he listen to the chaperone’s instructions? Did he stay with his buddy as they entered and exited… 🙂 so fun!! Can’t wait to hear all about it!!
January 28, 2015
Deirdre, I can only imagine how crazy that puppy bus must have been. It was probably a hoot and a half. I’ll make sure to get a full report and share on Monday.
January 28, 2015
Your daycare sounds like the awesomest place! Hope he enjoys the field trip!
January 28, 2015
Chewy – Olde Towne Pet Resort is the best! I love it! I have no doubt that the field trip was a hit in Harley’s eyes. I’ll fill you in with details on Monday.

A permission slip for a doggy field trip! Love it!
–Wags (and purrs) from Life with Dogs and Cats.
January 28, 2015
Susan, I was cracking up, that’s why my handwriting was so sloppy on the slip. I couldn’t stop laughing.
January 28, 2015
Have a good trip Harley
January 28, 2015
Talent Hounds I’m sure he had a blast. Will pick him up shortly!
January 28, 2015
That’s a new one on me…doggy field trip. I live just a couple miles from the Dulles OTPR!
January 28, 2015
Really Taryn? That’s where they were traveling to. They were headed to the Dulles facility to do the filming. Didn’t realize you were so close – cool 🙂
January 28, 2015
That is so cute! And super fun!
Adorables.

January 28, 2015
Thanks Tootsie, I think it was a really creative thing to do. Can’t wait to see the photos!
January 28, 2015
I’ve never heard of a doggie field trip. I like the idea. I hope the pups all had a fun day and did they get lunch??
January 28, 2015
Lunch was optional Sharon, Harley usually doesn’t eat lunch. The pet resort uses Mother Hubbard treats and so I’m sure he got plenty of those throughout the day. He will definitely be ready for his dinner when he gets home I’m sure.
January 28, 2015
That is adorable! And your daycare sounds really neat.
January 28, 2015
Thanks! Olde Towne Pet Resort is a wonderful place. Harley’s been going there since he was about 4 months old. At first it was just for puppy socialization and obedience school. We both fell in love with it, and they have truly become extended family. It has been well worth me giving up my manicures to finance his Friday camp day! LOL
January 28, 2015
Wow, a field trip! What a fun idea. Little sis Bailie goes to day care one day a week, but no field trips. Mom says she would not know what to do when confronted with such a permission slip. She might not be able to stop laughing 🙂 Fun idea.
January 28, 2015
Emma, tell your mother I laughed till I cried. Your Harley is home now, and snoring like a bear. Can’t wait to see all the pictures.
January 28, 2015
Ha – how cool is that?? Your dog has a better life than this human. Why don’t my employers send ME on a field trip?
I love the field trip form – hilarious but I am sure, necessary.
January 28, 2015
Blueberry, this humans doodle has a better life than I do 🙂 the permission slip was crazy funny, and I too understood the necessity of having one. He’s home in one piece, exhausted and snoring! My kind of night!
January 28, 2015
Wait, PS, What movie did YOU see?
January 28, 2015
Would you believe I never made it 🙁 I surprised someone near and dear to me that I hadn’t seen in forever and we laughed on the couch for hours. It was a great day!
January 28, 2015
I love the specialized lunchbox! Harley is so beautiful. (You may want to blur some of your phone number to protect your privacy.)
January 28, 2015
Thanks Emmy, I will make the adjustment.
January 28, 2015
A field trip?! What fun! Especially with your little lunch box! Have fun, Harley!
January 28, 2015
Jackie = he was so excited when I dropped him off, it reminded me of my children’s trips with their elementary school – lunch box and all..
January 28, 2015
A field trip AND a lunch box?! We are SOOOO jealous! Enjoy!!
January 28, 2015
Believe me Miley – when I left him I was feeling a little jealous too! He was so happy, his little tail just wagged and he never looked back at me as he rode the elevator to the camp room. 🙁
January 28, 2015
Words cannot describe how much I love this. ADORABLE
January 28, 2015
This. Is ABSOLUTELY ADORABLE!!!!! Oh my gosh, what I wouldn’t give to be a fly on the wall!!! How fun!!!
January 28, 2015
Girl, don’t you know it! The staff looked beat when I picked him up this afternoon. I was laughing my heart out, their hair was all over the place, clothes dirty, and Harley was snoring in the car on his way home. How have you been?
January 28, 2015
Wow! It looks like you have a lot of fun ahead of you. I hope you have a great time Harley!
January 28, 2015
Robin, he had a great time (from what they told me and from the photos I saw) he fell asleep almost as soon as he finished his dinner. Reminds me of my son when he played outside all day and then passed out early in the evening. He looks so cute snoring 🙂
January 28, 2015
This is possibly the best thing ever! We cant wait to hear all of your adventures Harley!!
January 28, 2015
Thanks – I will make sure to share on Monday!
January 28, 2015
That is awesome, have fun! The tree on my post today was broke in half about 4 ft up. Gambler and Glory jumped up there no problem. I had to give Nellie a boost. Thanks for stopping by.
January 28, 2015
Harley had a great time. He’s been snoring since about 7:30pm LOL I still think that photo you took is fantastic. Take care.
January 28, 2015
Absolutely hilarious! I had a great laugh reading your post. Thanks for sharing Cathy!
January 28, 2015
Sweet! You’re welcome Rachele. Stop by anytime 🙂 Take care
January 29, 2015
What a great post! Love the field trip permission slip, I’m sure it will be a great adventure for him. With lunch included how could it not be an awesome day~~
January 29, 2015
Cathy, it had to have been a doodle*tastic day because he slept from the time he got home (after he ate his dinner of course) straight through till this morning LOL He snored like a bear and never moved from his bed. #hilarious. Thanks for stopping by, we’ll do a recap on Monday 🙂
January 29, 2015
A doggie field trip – that is so cool! Can’t wait to hear all about it & see some pics! Luv that lunchbox.
January 29, 2015
It was so nice of them to include him Cathy – I can’t wait to share the pics and story with everyone on Monday.
January 31, 2015
I love it….doggy field trip….lunch box….photo shoot. Definitely can’t wait to hear more! And hope you enjoyed your movie too!
February 1, 2015
JanK, I had a doodle*tastic day, but it wasn’t at the movies. I spent the afternoon with a friend I hadn’t seen in ages. It was the best, and Harley had a wonderful time, it wore him out! He snored all night long:)
