WEEKENDS WITH DOGS

Weekends with dogs are often around here – and I love it…

WEEKENDS WITH DOGS

At work the Monday morning office chatter between co-workers generally starts with –

And how was your weekend?

When they ask me, they’re always so considerate, they add –

with the Boys?

I guess it’s no secret that I adore spending time with them. #didyouwonder

The truth of the matter is – I like my Doods! They have this magical way of keeping me happy.

Getting together with human interaction is still high on my list  🙂 and on occasion I have been known to do something wild and spontaneous without leashes, treats or poop bags!

ROUTINE BE GONE –

Dogs love structure – but on the weekend we throw routine out the window and sort of swing to the swish of the tail.

Saturday mornings I still rise at dawn.

Our morning walk is purposely slow and long. It’s my way of letting them know we’re gonna be together for the day.

No need to rush. #mamaaintgoingnowhere

The temperature took a little dip this weekend – so it was the pawfect time for coffee, and instant egg nog from The Honest Kitchen

WEEKENDS WITH DOGS

Dehydrated goat’s milk, egg, honey and cinnamon. It smelled like the holidays and they lapped it up.

Hampton Park has 63 acres and is practically in my backyard. We are STILL exploring different paths and trails…

WEEKENDS WITH DOGS

Doodle Dad dedicated his weekend to priming and painting the porch ceiling…

WEEKENDS WITH DOGS

Harley slept most of the day away while Jaxson entertained himself. I bought him a go dog sonic stick which he loves and hates.

It lights up and whistles when he touches it. He’s not a huge fan, but curiosity can also kill a Doodle…

FOOD EXPERIMENTS –

I am trying to eat healthier. This means I try to buy healthier snacks. When I saw these crispy, crunchy broccoli florets at Trader Joes – I thought –

Why not?

WEEKENDS WITH DOGS

  • Broccoli
  • Rice Bran Oil
  • Salt

Not a good combo for me – crispy and crunchy but they tasted weird. Even though they’re a little on the fatty side – the limited ingredients convinced me to give a piece to Harley who was staring me down. Both he and Jaxson LOVE it. So those two bags in the pantry will not go to waste.

SUNDAY FUNDAY –

After Church – Doodle Dad went back up the ladder…

WEEKENDS WITH DOGS

…while my bookends followed me around the house as I cleaned, re-organized and instigated mini doodle romps in between.

Walking through the neighborhood – we found the local fresh produce bus on the corner. It was a welcomed surprise because I’m used to seeing them on Thursday…

WEEKENDS WITH DOGS

The timing was doodletastic  cause we were running low on apples. Jaxson likes it when I cut them up and toss the pieces in a little peanut butter.

But this was his first time selecting them himself…

WEEKENDS WITH DOGS

I figured I’d buy some specialty sausage for Lee, and apparently Jaxson agreed…

WEEKENDS WITH DOGS

…maybe the aroma of the sausage cooking will help pry him off that ladder #donchathink

ONE MORE THING –

Super happy to find a mobile book store (managed by this adorable Corgi in the photo) – now I have someplace “locally” to donate books to share…

WEEKENDS WITH DOGS

Yep – weekends with dogs – for me – makes my days brighter.

It also leaves the nights #alltomyself

I love finding new treasures here in Charleston – they always seem to “pop” up.

Well, your dogs are part of your family. Of course you’re gonna spend your time with them. Looks like everyone had a great time.

Yes – they are. A very important part if you ask me. Just like you all are to your pet parents. Island Cats you are loved.

Yep! We make weekends special too. Often we have nose work trials but when we don’t Mom makes a point of doing something fun on Saturdays and Sundays we hang out around the house and get stuff done for the coming week. Enjoy!

Looks like it was a great weekend! Glad y’all enjoyed it!! Since we’re both retired, I get to spend lots of time with my girls. We enjoy our time in the yard; and after a long afternoon in the fresh air, they both take naps while hubby and I watch a movie.

When I took those few years off from work I had that taste of retirement and it was so sweet. You are blessed. Since I’ve gone back to work – I truly miss those days. I love my job, but I cherish my time at home with them.

Who in the world do you know that is more fun to spend time with?

Love your mobile produce bus and book store! In Panama we bought food from the veggie boat that came to popular anchorages. But I’d love to see a book store boat!

That sounds like a perfect weekend to me, and similar to a typical weekend around here. While I was gone shopping for two days with the girls, which was a lot of fun, I’m always happy to get back home to the dogs and our typical days. 🙂

The weekends are a combination of keeping the dogs entertained, cleaning the house, and side gigs. I do all my writing, videos, and editing. J works on his big equipment and reminds me that he needs a shop.
