A PETBOX WEEKEND

Any sign of movement or noise coming from the front of our house caused Harley to race towards the window. Someone was waiting. I can always tell. Harley knew this should be what we call a PetBox weekend.

Translation:

“It’s been a few weeks and the blue box should be here by now!”

Saturday we decided to stretch our legs and get some exercise – all of us, “Poppa Doodle, Momma Doodle and Harley Doodle!” We wanted some fresh air and thought a walk through one of our favorite shopping communities would be nice.

Imagine someone’s surprise when we pulled into the driveway upon our return…

Now that he saw his “blue box” on the steps, I knew I could forego whatever plans I may have had for myself. Short of being able to take off my hat and coat, the very next thing on someone’s agenda was opening that box.

However he and I have a few “rules” when it comes to the blue box:

First, I have to get the scissors to slice open the tape

Then, I must grab my camera. (lucky for him, the camera was handy because I took it with us on our little excursion earlier.)

Photo op – “before” we pilferage through.

Notice he’s not smiling for the photo…

After that, it’s a free for all. #gettingbusy

There were many packages of goodness in this months box. He sniffed and looked around a bit…

And when something yummy caught his senses, he went in deep…

Let’s explore the contents and find out his ultimate favorite!

Jolly Bone is a toy advertised for powerful chewers. The Jolly Pets company places a strong focus on the quality and durability of all the products they manufacture…

In 1976, veterinarian Tom and his wife Lyn decided to create a line of nutritional supplements and dermatological treatments, for cats, dogs and horses. They created Tomlyn Veterinary Science. We received two products from them this month.

1. Opticlear™ Sterile Veterinary Eye Wash. This is a product that really doesn’t require much verbiage from me! I’ve never had to use it, can’t remember ever seeing Doodle Doc apply it on Harley, but it’s certainly a “nice to have” in the event I ever need it…

2. A bag of Relax & Calm Chews for Medium & Large Dogs. While I know nothing about an ingredient included in this product (L-Tryptophan), what I have read would lead me to seek Doodle Doc’s professional advice first if Harley suffered from anxiety or stress. #checkwithyourvet

Exclusively Dog Mini Grahams are right up our alley! Full of yummy goodness I can pronounce AND I love the adorable lil pup in overalls on the box…

jjjj

They say it’s not your “ordinary cookie, but a unique blend of wholesome ingredients and flavors that dogs will howl for!” Made with natural, kosher ingredients, naturally sweet wholesome graham and no animal parts, by-products, or fillers. That, and the box  make me smile #dontjudgeme

Balls have become Harley’s new “love interest” lately. He’s into the small ones, which allows him to chase, grab, carry and run. Gnawsome Squeaker balls for dogs comes in various colors and sizes. We received the 2.5 inch and it’s pawfect for his mouth. The squeaker is loud, which is fine with me, and it’s soft enough for him to run and squeak at the same time. They say the squeaker and the ball are “one” eliminating any choking hazards.  And (this is pretty cool) the soft spines on the outside promote gum and teeth health. Like they said – it’s Gnawsome!

oooo

While Happy Howie’s Turkey Sausage reminds me of my favorite college staple of dried beef jerky sticks, I try to stay away from products with “mixed tocopherols” as their natural preservative when it comes to Harley.

So, last but according to Harley “certainly not least” is his ultimate favorite this month…

J Nicolay and their peanut butter and banana treat! Oh My Doodle these things make me want to try one. Available in various sizes, loaded with ingredients even I find tasty, and they have a unique weight to them so they don’t crumble in my pocket – yes, I took some with me on my walk this morning…

In our house, PetBox is always so much fun – Harley gets a kick out of the surprises in the box, and I get a chuckle watching him make his selections. I hope you enjoy reading about his new found treasures each month too!

That is too cool Deirdre! Glad they liked it! Might I suggest you grab either the Gnawsome ball or better yet – check out the night vision ball on Harley’s list of goodies on his “Favorite Things” page. Dash and Lilly would absolutely flip chasing that thing around in the night!

Glad you love your PetBox so much. There are three of us that have to share one, but it seems there are always things we have no use for, so we don’t get those boxes. It works better for some families than others I guess.

Oh Emma, I know how you feel. We’ve had similar experiences before. At least with PetBox you can select your items yourself guaranteeing you get goodies you know your girls will like. If we ever get a squirrel in our box, we’re sending it to you! pawmise 🙂

Mr. N. So far, we’ve never been too disappointed. We have (on occasion) had a few “duds” in the box – but we have plenty of friends who eat and play with goodies that we don’t and Harley loves to share – so it turns out to be a win anyway. But for the most part – we’re very happy with what we get. Thanks for stopping by, we love visiting you!

Honey used to have a pet box subscription. She agrees with Harley’s method: dig deep for the treats first. Then and only then take up the toys over the coming weeks.

Hi Cathy! It’s so easy to write product revieews for PetBox because each month I get such a kick out of watching Harley rummage through the boxes. He is always so animated when I tell him to “take one” it’s hilarious. Thanks so much for stopping by, come back real soon!

Glad you got your box Harley! Shiner wasn’t too interested in the squeaky ball, but she sure did love that Jolly Bone. My little human actually stole the squeaky ball for herself when Shiner wouldn’t play with it lol… she likes throwing it around and making it light up. It’s both weird and funny how many “dog toys” she likes to play with.

Interesting Ann, very interesting! Harley has yet to engage with the Jolly Bone, but that little squeaky devil has been squeaking every day LOL
