JOLLY AWESOME PET TAGS

I “really” need to get better with dog tags! There we go, I’ve admitted it. I’ve never been that pet parent who affixed tags onto their dogs collar. I keep all of them with my car keys (Harley + me + keys = always together!).

In fact, Harley only wears a collar when we’re out and about.

I don’t know why, but I’ve always been distracted and somewhat agitated by the “clinking” noise associated with “tags.” So when I received an inquiry from Jolly Awesome Pet Tags to try their Dura-tags™ for pets, I was drawn in by two words “noise-free.”

I immediately saw this as a sign. Pawhaps now I could place tags on Harley’s collar, and not have the hair on the back of my neck stand up every time he moved about. #dontjudgeme

Dura-tags™ are customizable full color photo pet tags. You get three, mix or match, double-sided, custom pet tags for $16.95.

You create this new type of pet ID tag online using their online design tool. I found the online process easy to navigate. This is important to point out because I’m that person who can quickly get frustrated with challenging keyboard instructions, and I know I’m not alone! But for me, this was not labor intensive, I survived without losing my sanity!

I simply uploaded a color image of Harley on one side of the tag and entered text information on the back…

The hardest part was choosing the photo BOL

The hardest part was choosing the photo BOL

To be honest with you – most of my time was spent fingering out “which photo to use” and “what in the Doodle do I print on the back?”

After staring at the screen much longer than necessary, I decided his name was pawbably a good idea along with my telephone number. Then I added the name and number of his vet. Here was my rational: “if he and I were separated those are the two numbers I would pray they would call.” Keep I’m mind – Harley is “chipped” but when it comes to his safety – I can never be too careful!

After I created the first tag I started thinking, “if I use his cute little face, and I have my telephone number on the back it would be a great tag for other items as well.”

For instance –

If it was on my key ring, and I lost my keys – someone just might call and rescue me from my misery of “frantically” searching for my keys…

BAZINGA! Here’s a cute little “gift” idea! Harley’s favorite photographer has started traveling quite a bit now on photography assignments. What a doodle*tastic way to say “you’re special to me” by giving her a tag for her camera equipment bag? …

Taking this to her before she leaves again!

And, I of course could use one on my suitcase next spring as I travel to Nashville for Blog Paws 2015 #heynow …

We always have our collars on except at night when it is bedtime. My mom actually likes the clinking noise of the tags because she can tell who is moving around and where they are without having to constantly look for us. We are also likely to take off if we would see a critter or something, so she wants to make sure we are covered if we should get lost which hopefully will never happen! These tags are cute, but we are all set for now with tags.

Emma, I’m really good with “tagging” Harley up when we’re outside. But as soon as we come in – off everything comes. Now PAWhaps I won’t have to do that until we’re in for the night. During the day he can stay “tagged.” Take care, and have a great weekend!

Funny that noisy dog tags bother you so much. I’ve always kind of liked the sound.

But for safety’s sake, I’m so glad you found a way to to help people get Harley back to you in case of an emergency (yeah, like anything could get him to leave your side). 🙂

Sounds like a good idea for us to put our boat information on when we set off with Honey next year.

BTW, I’ve seen little fabric pouches for enclosing the tags so they don’t click together. Obviously you’re not the only one the noises bothers.

Pamela – I can’t explain it – but that noise will drive me insane over a period of time! Now trust me when I tell you, Harley is heavily armed with identification when we go out. He’s got the chip, he’s got the collar buckle with the built in GPS and all his information encrypted in it, he’s got his name on his leash, and now the noise-free tag. I’m taking no chances!!!! I second that motion about your boat info for Honey – smart thinking girlfriend!
