HALLOWEEN – KEEP PETS SAFE

By Monday, October 31, 2016 16 No tags Permalink

It’s halloween again, and while most of the country will either walk their mini ghosts, goblins and princesses around neighborhoods, a great deal of people will fill their bowls with tasty treats waiting for the trick or treaters to drop by.

Harley, Jaxson and I wish to remind one and all to have a “Yappy Howloween” but remember these pet safety tips…

HALLOWEEN - KEEP PETS SAFE

NO CHOCOLATE –

The candy bowl is for trick-or-treaters, NOT four legged friends. Several popular Halloween treats are toxic to pets. Chocolate in all forms—especially dark or baking chocolate—can be very dangerous for cats and dogs, and sugar-free candies containing the artificial sweetener xylitol can cause serious problems in pets…

LET’S TALK COSTUMES –

For some pets, wearing a costume may cause undue stress. If you do dress up your pet for Halloween, make sure the costume does not limit his or her movement, sight or ability to breathe, bark or meow. Check the costume carefully for small, dangling or easily chewed-off pieces that could present a choking hazard. Ill-fitting outfits can get twisted on external objects or your pet, leading to injury. Source: ASPCA

Be sure to have your pet try on the costume before the big night. If he or she seems distressed or shows abnormal behavior, consider letting your pet wear his or her #barkdaysuit instead.

Last year the Boys were “Thing 1 & Thing 2″ they were very comfortable…

KEEP THEM CALM –

Halloween brings a flurry of activity with visitors arriving at the door, and too many strangers can often be scary and stressful for pets. All (but the most social) dogs and cats should be kept in a separate room away from the front door during peak trick-or-treating hours. A frightened pet could dart out of the door, race down the street, get lost or worse…

HALLOWEEN - KEEP PETS SAFE

Halloween can be the spookiest night of the year, but keeping your pets safe doesn’t have to be tricky…

Make this an incredible week!

Excellent advice! We hope there aren’t too many visitors tonight lest I have to disconnect either the door bell or the barker. [wink]

Did they give out Howloween bones at Emma’s school? That would have been fun…

Happy Howloween Doodleboys!! Great advice for all! Around here, though, schools and churches have HALLOWEEN parties for the kids to keep them off the streets, out of trouble, and safe. We haven’t seen trick-or-treaters for many years.

More and more communities are doing that now. Our neighborhood still has TOT but only for two hours (6-8) and there’s a heavy police presence. The Boys had fun, they sit outside with us in the driveway.

It was pretty smooth. A bunch of lil’ people and our candy lasted for two hours! How was yours?

Ours was quiet, no trick or treaters up here in the boonies! But with our crew, it’s definitely better that way. 🙂

We were inundated with lil humans for two hour straight. Went through three huge bags of candy, but once the time was up, it all shut down abruptly. Loved it!

We actually saw quite a few pups that were scared out of their wits! I wonder what is going on in the parent’s heads when they decided to bring the poor pups trick or treating! All good tips. Hope you had a great Halloween!
