ENERGY LEVEL #BLOGGING FROM A-Z

By Tuesday, April 5, 2016 39 , , Permalink

The energy level of the Goldendoodle may or may not be similar to other dogs. I personally don’t know because of my limited pet parenting experiences.

I can however, agree they are active, highly energetic dogs – suitable for all types of activities such as flyball, agility, fetch and retrieve.

Goldendoodles require a moderate amount of exercise, but I think it depends on the individual doodle. #mythoughts

Harley was born to lounge, while Jaxson probably started romping inside the womb!

This is our house – seven days a week…

Running, swimming, walking and romping  for several hours everyday will keep a Goldendoodle mentally and physically fit. Time to stretch their legs and run is essential for the Goldendoodle.

When I worked outside the home, they would spend several days at doggie daycare for the socialization and exercise. Olde Towne Pet Resort kept them engaged in play – draining all that exercise. #wornoutdoodles

Since we’ve moved, the boys are walking several times a day, and I try to make sure there is plenty of playtime either in the backyard, or indoors during inclement weather.

Even though the Golden Retriever and Standard Poodle were bred as hunting dogs, the Goldendoodle is not widely used for that purpose*.

I’ll discuss their purpose when we get to the letter “P

This year over 500 bloggers from across the world will participate in the A-Z blogging challenge.

We will attempt to blog everyday during the month of April (minus Sundays) completing the entire alphabet in one month.

Our Theme? – “Everything Goldendoodle”  ❤️

ONE MORE THING –

At 9:00pm tonight (Wed, April 6) the Go Pet Friendly “Best City for Pet Travelers” March Madness tournament will end.

We have felt so much love as you faithfully hovered over your keyboards and continued to either vote or solicit votes round after round on Charleston’s behalf. Words will never ever be enough – but know our “thank you” comes directly from the heart.

The Boys and I are also so grateful to THE PET MAHAL salon – who matched $1.00 for each vote up to the first $100.00 in the final round for the Charleston Animal Society. #turnngfunintogood

Loved watching the video and seeing how gently they play with one another. So much fun to observe!

I also love alphabet blogs and blogging topics. My partner and I have visited restaurants in our town in alphabetical order and blogged about them. Looking forward to following your alphabet!

    Wonderful, as always!

Jasmine – you were a true life saver last night, your optimistic attitude really kept me focused, thank you so much for that. I’ve found with friends doing anything with the alphabet is always memorable and fun.

What lovely doggies. The kittens are very energetic here, but our word for the day is Elegant as demonstrated by Miss Yin.

Bailie and I are the same breed, but we also have different energy levels. All dogs need some exercise, some more than others. We find Bailie needs more exercise the more she exercises, but Mom loves her energy level. Good luck tonight, we know you have put all your paws into the Best City for Pet Travelers.

So true – energy levels do vary. Harley just received a glowing report from his vet last month after his annual physical. He was super impressed with everything and we attributed his heart rate to having Jaxson around. Jax (like Bailey) needs more exercise too, and while I dread it sometimes, it’s really doing wonders for me! #winwin I meant to ask you – how’s Katie doing these days? Give her a hug for me, she is such a beautiful dog, and she looks so loving.

I do think breed plays into personality and temperament, but dogs are also individuals like Harley and Jax. Our previous dog was a Yorkie. Many told us that he would not do well with kids, be a bit high strung, etc. Turns out he was about the most relaxed and chilled out (kind of lazy) dog around.

I agree, I often read stories from other Goldendoodle parents who have had some “not so fabulous” experiences with their dogs, but the incidents they describe baffle me, because I’ve been blessed never to have seen them in mine. Yorkie’s are full of cuteness overload. Our friends had one for years that melted my heart every time. Have a great week!

Graham and Marsha, my two little ones, regularly play gently like that around dinner time. Dinner and a show!

Same here – it’s usually around that hour, and after a good romp like that they soon settle down and it’s a peaceful evening here in Doodleville.

Hi Cathy! The A-Z Blogging Challenge sounds fun! It is good that your boys have each other to play with. My golden retriever Savanna only has my cat Chessie for company. The only thing Chessie likes to do is to lounge around and sleep all day on Savanna’s bed. Savanna gets her exercise in the backyard or on our walks. Savanna loves to play frisbee and I do too!

Sounds like it’s time to get Savannah a sibling 🙂 Two are extremely entertaining – as long as you have a good bottle of wine around LOL Thanks for reading, please come back again soon.

This reminded me so much of Rae and her brother Finn. They are crazy together with nonstop energy. As soon as she gets home she passes out! We take her to the dog park all the time and lots of walks as well but it’s so great that she gets to play with her brother some times throughout the week!

As I’m sitting here catching up on blog posts and comments, Jax is running around in the backyard, while Harley romped for two minutes and came back in the porch and started snoring!!!

    April 6, 2016

We are quite the same as Emma and Bailie. Although Earl and Ethel are the same breed (Border Terrier), Ethel has much higher energy levels than Earl. I love having two different dogs!

Based on how different Harley & Jax are, you would think I had two different dogs LOL – but I guess it’s the 6 year age difference. I love having two dogs. Wish I could afford more.

Great video. They look like they have a good time with each other. Since I have a retriever breed, Chesapeakes, I am very interested in reading your “P” post to find out what their purpose is. Beautiful dogs!!

Thanks Misty – I love Chesapeake retrievers! My husbands commander had two and he also had this lake in his backyard, I could sit and watch them dive off the deck all afternoon long. Amazing strength and balance. Come back for the rest of the alphabet!

Harley and Jaxson have so much fun together, it kind of makes me feel bad for Haley not having a fulltime play buddy. Oh wait! That’s me, haha!

I loved the video and good luck with the tournament! I’m rooting for you there in Charleston. 🙂

That is a lot of exercise! Makes my two look like lazy bums… But they do walk 2+ miles with me every day, and they engage in a little crazy pug in the yard at night. I suppose that wears them out!
