DOODLE SEE – DOODLE DO

Doodle see – Doodle do! That’s been the theme in our house lately…

DOODLE SEE - DOODLE DO

Everyday is becoming a Doodle competition.

It’s not done for my attention and there’s no display of aggression – just a whole lot of Doodle fun and frolic which keeps us humans continuously entertained.

Jaxson’s the competitor and Harley’s the initiator.

Whether they’re eating or playing with toys. Jaxson’s only interested if Harley’s already “done it.”

This is new behavior around here.

For the most part, Jaxson’s been the rambunctious one…

DOODLE SEE - DOODLE DO

Leaving Harley to chill and observe from a distance…

DOODLE SEE - DOODLE DO

BUT LATELY –

When Harley does something, Jaxson is biting his paw for his turn.

Doesn’t matter what it is –

  • Teeth brushing
  • ear cleaning
  • hair combing

If Harley’s in it – Jaxson almost pees on himself waiting for his turn.

THE OTHER DAY –

We were taking photos with Jeanne Taylor-Photography. She asked Harley to sit on the chair. He did as commanded and she gave him some praise…

DOODLE SEE - DOODLE DO

Both Jeanne and I exclaimed with glee when he quickly turned into one posing Doodle for a few minutes – tilting his head, smiling, the whole works. #lightscameradoodleaction

When he jumped down, Jeanne got ready to change the camera lens, exchange the backdrop for another color and switch out the small chair for something larger that would fit Jaxson’s derrière.

Out of nowhere, Jaxson leaps up on the chair, and as if he knew his tush was entirely too doodle big for the seat portion – he throws his head back and strikes a Marilyn Monroe pose as if to say –

How you like me now?

Through the laughter, I imagined them singing that song –

[JAXSON:] Anything you can do I can do better – I can do anything better than you.

[HARLEY:] No, you can’t.

[JAXSON:] Yes, I can

[Frank:] No, you can’t.

[JAXSON:] Yes, I can.

[Frank:] No, you can’t.

[JAXSON:] Yes, I can! Yes, I can!

DOODLE SEE - DOODLE DO

And actually – yes he did! #donttellHarley

I’m not quite sure what’s triggered this behavior.

When I looked for some answers on the internet, I found “nada.”

Anybody out there in a multiple pet household that could lend an explanation?

Do something today that your future self will thank you for. ❤️

Madison does everything Bailie does, but we figure it is the puppy/older sibling is cool thing going on. It works really well for sports training as only one of us trains at a time and the others get jealous and work harder when we finally get our turn. Enjoy your modeling!

I’m planning to get Jaxson certified for pet therapy. I pray he tries to mimic Harley during testing LOL Paws crossed.

Jimmy does that with Wilson, but there is a good deal of jealousy mixed in.

Haven’t seen any jealousy. Just a lot of Doodle -see – Doodle – do! LOL

      It really is…
Today at the vet Harley was on the scale, and Jaxson had already been there, but when he saw Harley up there, he jumped right on too. Harley seems to be honored that he has such a loyal admirer – so he just scooted over and made room for Jaxson. Too cute!

Around here, it’s an attention-seeking ploy from either of the girls when the other one is getting some. But mostly it’s Ducky because Shadow is having a harder time keeping up with the wild child.

A multiple pet home is always so entertaining isn’t it? I love it…

Wow, that is so weird! I have no clue what could cause a shift in behavior like that, especially at this late stage! Phoebe always copies Icy but it’s been that way since we got Phoebe. If you figure it out, you must blog about it & share!

That’s adorable. Elsa does the same but only if I’m around. I think she’s still very insecure and need validation. Your guys don’t have that problem, they are just vying for adorableness!

Isn’t that funny? It’s almost like you’ve got a younger sibling following the older sibling around and copying everything they do. Not a bad problem to have with dogs especially when it’s good behavior.

Luke has to be in on everything….so if Cricket is doing it, he is not going to be left out. Some dogs like to be the center of attention!

That’s hilarious and those pictures are priceless. I’ve always had a multiple pet home, but never have I seen anything like that! My kids do it, but kids and dogs are so much alike sometimes.

Hahaha! Harley and Jaxson are a wonderful pair. It is great that they love each other so much that they feel the need to emulate each other. My kitties are like that too. You can’t do something with one cat that you aren’t going to do with the other as well. I guess it is fursibling rivalry! 🙂

    They’re so adorable!

Mimicing (allelomimetic or alomimetic behaviour) is common in many social animals. That way they learn, play and strenghten social bonds within their group. As long as Jaxson is mimicing positive behaviour it’s great, if they start making trouble you should probably do some more training separately with each dog.

Hi Happyjack! Great advice. All the mimicking is positive. Trouble just doesn’t live here in Doodleville. #thankthedoodle I’ve always been amazed at how easy going these dogs are. Even wth Leo – there always seemed to be this level of respect and courtesy – with EVERYTHING!
