TRAINER IN TRAINING | GOLDENDOODLE STYLE

There is nothing more heart warming then watching the Boys interact with children. They adored the two little boys who lived next door, and last year both Harley & Leo sulked for days when the family moved away.

Our prayers were answered when new neighbors arrived with not one but two little boys EXACTLY the same age as the ones we’d lost.

In no time at all the four become “besties” running and rolling around from sun up to sun down. I have hundreds of photos to prove it!

Recently though, I’ve noticed a split with this “fantastic foursome” so I’ve been observing these new relationships more carefully through the lens of my camera.

Somewhere between seasons, Marshall (the oldest) and Leo (our youngest) declared themselves the new “dynamic duo.” They seemed to gravitate to one another very quietly and very easily.

What piqued my interest was not the “amount of time” they spend together, it’s how attentive they both are when they’re with one another…

Scenes like these go on for long periods of time.

Marshall treats Leo like he was the “kid next door.” Whatever game he wants to play, he talks it over with Leo, and I can’t help but smile because Leo listens…

Can't you hear him "then when it's your turn..."

Can’t you hear him “then when it’s your turn…”

A few weeks ago, I overheard Marshall trying to give commands to Leo. He was all over the place repeating “Leo, Leo, Leo” – “Sit, sit, sit”, getting no results!

Not much happening here!

I put my camera down and went over to him so I could explain the proper way to get a dogs attention, (at least what works when I’m trying to teach them something)…

I love this check out Marshall's form!!!!

Marshall is a quick study and in no time the two created yet another game to play…

Sensing he felt he was ready for “Animal Planet” I asked him if he wanted to be Leo’s personal “trainer in training” and he readily accepted. Totally engrossed in working with his new subject, he never noticed me capturing him in action…

In the weeks to come when the weather gets increasingly warmer, and school has shut down for the summer, these two will be inseparable, I’m sure…

And in case you were wondering… Harley makes sure he gets his share of DLC (Doodle Loving Care) too!…

I think this blog is REALLY awesome! Leo is really playful when I play with him. It is like he is my dog! Harley is exciting too. When he hasn’t seen me in awhile he jumps on me and starts licking me. Since I’ve moved here the dogs are like none other that I’ve seen before. Lately Harley and Leo have been pretty good and I wanted to give them a reward…..but what??? (note to Ms. Cathy) do they eat peanut brittle from a can? because I was thinking of buying that.

Awhhh – that’s so sweet Marshall. Leo really likes you too! No they can’t eat peanut brittle from the can, but one day you and Leo can share an apple. He likes apples –

We have a neighbor boy that is almost three. We all take turns playing with him and he loves us. Katie has been his official guard dog since he was born. Although she was never around children she assumed guard right away with her instincts. Have fun with your boys, boys.

Emma, little people seem to be the best furrends for Harley & Leo, they are always happy when there’s someone to play with. I hope Katie lets you play with her human sometimes…
