PET PROJECT

Thursday was a special day for one of our Little Rascals (that’s “doodle talk” for the children on the block that play with The Boys).

Thursday was Taylor’s Birthday…

Taylor and Leo

On the way home, DH stopped by Confections (a “to die for” doodle*licious Cupcakery) on his way home and picked up a couple of cupcakes for the “birthday girl.”

While he was gone, I made a serious dent in my email and came across this interesting “pet project” from Scout and our furrends at BarkBox

HOW TO MAKE AN OVERSIZED PRINT OF YOUR DOG FOR $5

After Taylor left the house with a huge smile and cupcakes to go, I thought, why not try this over the weekend using this photo of Taylor and Leo…

Doodles, cupcakes and a child, how triply sweet

It seems really easy, and hey, how many things can one buy for $5 these days?

They said “any photo will do”, but here are a couple of tips:

HOW TO DO IT:

Step 1: The first thing you need to do is choose your photos. It’s ok if your photo isn’t super high quality, they’ll be a little more grainy when enlarged, but that just adds to the charm. The prints turn out looking like a high quality black and white photocopy, as you can see below.

Step 2: If you want your photo to fill the whole canvas, make sure it will scale proportionally to 24″ x 36″ (photos that are already at the dimensions of 4″ x 6″ will work). You can do this in programs like Photoshop or online with Pixlr. If you submit a square format photo it will still work, but it will be printed with white borders on the sides.

Step 3: Then, all you need to do is walk into a Staples and ask for “engineer prints,” hand over your $5, and bam! You’ve got a ready-to-hang work of art featuring your furry, four-legged best friend. (Just a note– Kinko’s also offers this service but they’re called “blueprint copies” instead.)

I will help my Mom…

There you have it, a DIY project so easy even a dog could do it (almost!)

Thanks for starting your weekend off with The Boys – do something fun Saturday & Sunday….

I love this! On a side note…will you be doing holiday pictures so children can get pictures taken with the boys? I hope so because I would have that picture blown up and hung over my fireplace!

Hadn’t planned on it, but if you wish to “borrow” them for a Holiday Photo, you are welcome to do so 🙂

This year you can also “doodle-tize” your Holiday Season with a variety pack of their Holiday cards. They will be on sale next week via this website…

Take care Nikki and thanks for reading.
