BARK BOWL GAME

Wednesday of last week I shared with you Harley’s impending field trip to the Bark Bowl Game. Bark Bowl Sunday – the first of what can only be an annual championship game of the NFLL (National Furry-Leg League).

The day of the scrimmage, the weather was unforgiving. The wind chills made the frigid temperature rip right through you like you wouldn’t believe. They were gone most of the day and they spent the majority of the time outdoors! Pawhaps that is why Harley returned looking exhausted and frazzled. He walked slow and sloppy, like a man who had seen the bottom of several bottles. He snored that night like Rip Van Winkle. #loud

The consensus from the other pet parents were similar to mine – their pups also laid comatose the rest of the evening! I was super anxious to see the photo’s – I could only imagine the fun they all must have had.

This years game was between the two Olde Towne Pet Resort locations. The Seahawks of Springfield traveled to the Patriots stadium at the Dulles location.

Strapped in the van, with his lunchbox in tow, Harley and the rest of the team  left promptly at 10:00am…

Since Harley was a Seahawks draft pick, I shall introduce his team #biasofcourse

  • Tucker the Retriever
  • Georgie the Doodle
  • Hera the Doberman
  • Harley the Doodle
  • Kahlua the Shepard

When they arrived, Hera made it clear there would be no interviews…

I found it entirely too difficult to select a few photos because they are all so pawcious. Team jerseys, referees, and a lot more, the staff at OTPR really went all out.

Here’s a slideshow to make you smile all doodle day!

And as with any major sporting event, there’s always those famous video clips / sound bites that only a few get to see. So feel special 🙂 because YOU are among the privileged to laugh some more…

CONGRATULATIONS TO THE PATRIOTS…

Both Harley and Hera were in shock at the end of the game…

So, I’m gonna end this blog post and look after my little sports junkie. He’s still a little down, just keeps laying around hugging his jersey #sosad…

We love the daycare Bailie goes to once a week, but yours really goes over the top with ideas! How fun and how nice to be sacked out from such a fun outing.

You are so right Emma – Doodle Dad and I are seriously looking into relocating to Charleston SC (my happy place) and my heart aches when I think about not being able to take him to OTPR. They are without a doubt the greatest group of pet loving people I have ever met. Since my grown children are still here in this area, we would race to day camp overtime we come this way to visit.

Ha! I loved that one too Amanda. And my second fav was his blocking the Doberman running the touchdown.

Your daycare is so creative. Poor Harley. Did you reassure him there’s always next year?

      February 2, 2015

I did Mr. N. I told him we’ve got a whole year to get it together. He didn’t seem impressed LOL

That looks like too much fun! And no cheaters or poor sports! You’ll get ’em next season, Harley!

That’s correct Jackie – there were no cheaters, and no poor sports. We certainly hope there is a next time, and we will certainly be there 🙂

OMST! I love that Harley has a seahawks jersey! You guys rock! This looks like you guys had a great time!! I wish the girls had a place to go to play ball with other dogs.

It makes a nice break for Harley Christine, now that Leo’s gone. He gets to play at least one day a week (especially in this nasty weather) with the other dogs until exhaustion! Works for me every time!

Wow, that was even better than Puppy Bowl. Honey is totally jealous. She would love to have played in the Bark Bowl.

Looks like Harley earned his off-season break. And don’t worry. It will be time for summer training camp before you know it.

      February 3, 2015

One things for sure Pamela, Harley is never lost for something to do! He and I will find something active and exciting to get into until summer camp indeed!

      February 4, 2015

JoAnn he was exhausted. He snored and slept so hard Doodle Dad kept checking on him 🙂 It was reminiscent to a time when the human children would play outside on a cold day and pass out before dinner. Too funny when you see it in a dog!

    Harley,
Don’t worry, there is always next year! I know you played your heart out and losing the game WAS NOT due to a bad coaching call. It appears you guys showed great sportsmanship…unlike the humans! Your hard work will payoff for you and the team…just wait to next season!!! Hey…don’t let anyone get traded during the off season…keep the team together…we don’t want you moving to South Carolina either!

    • Cathy Bennett
      February 4, 2015

Thanks Greg – not sure what the coach has in store for Harley – but if it’s left up to him, he will be training and getting himself ready for summer camp I have no doubt!
