A long time ago I discovered something about my family. Harley, Leo, DH and I are pretty easy going creatures. We don’t ask for much and we appreciate almost everything. So on Thursday when I found out the temperature for both Saturday and Sunday would be mild, dry, PLUS sunshine – I was beside myself with happiness. I now had a purpose, I was “livin for the weekend!”
With the possibility of cold temperatures returning by Monday, and a threat of snow for Tuesday, we tried to squeeze all we could out of two days. and I think we nailed it!
Our Saturday morning walk was incredible. The temperature was higher than usual, allowing me the freedom to dress “down” from the multiple layers I’d been wearing. Just one coat – no sweater / light cap – no hood, no skull cap / bare hands – no gloves / shoes – no boots. I was dressed and ready to go before you could spell D.O.O.D.L.E.
As we turned the corner heading home, we bumped into our next door neighbor. She too planned on savoring ALL of her weekend and was just starting her morning stroll. To our surprise Harley wanted to join her, so I let him.
Leo’s mind was dead set on breakfast – he definitely wasn’t interested, so he and I continued home.
I laughed a little when I saw Brigette and Harley returning. They both had a serious pep in their step as they strutted towards the house…
A few hours later, we hit the streets. I had a couple of errands to run and then I surprised my son with an impromptu visit. He is by far, Harley & Leo’s favorite human to play with…
By mid afternoon, the sun’s rays felt magnificent – oh how I’ve missed feeling that bright light warming my face. Apparently so did Harley because while DH completed a few outside chores, Harley chose to sunbathe in front of all the neighbors …
They tried to stay out all day – soaking in as much as they could…
Sunday afternoon we headed over to the Super Pet Expo. I’d promised Carol Plescia from Acadia Antlers that we would stop by over the weekend to say hello.
Carol and I met two years ago (at the same Expo) when I hunted her down to purchase a Moose Antler. We’d received one in a gift box and it was such a hit, that I had to get another. We’ve kept in touch and I’ve been so inspired by how she’s fulfilling her dream…
While we were there Harley selected an Antler to donate to Military War Dogs while I wrote them a “thank you” note for their service to our Country…
Just as predicted, by late Sunday afternoon the wind started to pick up and with it came a bit of a chill. Leo played ball for a little while fighting desperately to hang onto the weekend…
After dinner as the sun began to set, I caught a glimpse of them as I walked down the hall. There they were, perched at the top of the stairs staring out into space. They both looked as if they were remembering all the fun they’d had over the past two days. As I got closer I do believe I heard one sigh and the other exhale as if they wanted to say – “we’re just living for the weekend!”
Hope you had a wonderful weekend – let’s all strive to make it a wonderful week too! – thanks for reading…

Sounds like lots of fun! I am wondering where our warm went today. The weather is still having hot flashes where I live. Those antlers at the Expo look HUGE!

Ann it was nice while it lasted, I was layered up this morning once again! Snow is in the forecast for tomorrow, but it sounds like it will only be doing a “drive by” Nothing major! The antlers are huge! And for us, they seem to last almost forever….

Have no fear Dakota – snow is near. They said we will get a dusting tomorrow – nothing major and it should stick – we’ll see. It was nice to have a mini – winter break though… Hope you all get some relief soon.

Dakota, we’ve learned to adjust to “snow here – snow gone” type of weather. We’re just living for June!
