When I opened the Fed Ex delivered box Saturday morning, Doodle Dad looked at the contents and asked –

What’s Olewo carrots?

WHAT'S OLEWO CARROTS?

Pawhaps my excitement went wwwaaaayyyy to deep in detail with him because when I turned around he was gone!

Yep #lefttheroom

As a child in the 60’s I had a serious fascination with Bugs Bunny.

He was the reason I entertained eating raw carrots. I used to walk around the house with a carrot hanging loosely between my fingers like a cigarette asking everyone in my family –

Whats up Doc?…

WHAT'S OLEWO CARROTS?

When Harley was about 5 years old, I tried giving him a raw carrot to which he just looked at me with confusion mixed slightly with disgust at the thought of eating this “stick like” thing.

Over the years it pretty much never changed.

BENEFITS –

I first heard about Olewo carrots from Keep the Tail Wagging. Kimberly had great results conquering her dogs digestive and diarrhea issues.

Root veggies (such as carrots) are really good for us – we all know that!

What I didn’t know is that there are 25 benefits for dogs from carrots.

No,  I’m not going to list them. LOL

But there is one – which is high on my list.

Carrots promote –

Eye healthrich in beta carotene, carrots help prevent cataracts and molecular degeneration.

This is HUGE to me, Harley is nine now, I want to slow down the deterriation of his vision.

These are just some of the 25 benefits –

  • Healthy Skin
  • Shiny Coat
  • Immune System
  • Gut Health
  • Bone Health

– it’s really worth a peek to see the entire list

THEIR STORY –

Olewa has been producing dehydrated vegetable supplements for pets for over 40 years.

In the 70’s – children were becoming ill and dying during an epidemic of diarrhea in German orphanages. The children were given carrot soup, which resolved the diarrhea and made them better.

During that same timeframe, a Doberman breeder in Germany sought after the same pharmacists when his dogs were dying of severe diarrhea. The pharmacist determined through research if the carrots were shredded and dehydrated it would be as effective.

EASY TO PREPARE –

Because dogs aren’t really able to properly digest raw carrots – Olewo Dehydrated Carrots provide all the beneficial nutrients for a dogs digestive system.

WHAT'S OLEWO CARROTS?

I’ve chosen Olewo carrots because they are –

  • highly nutritious
  • highly digestible
  • easily absorbed
  • delivers fast and visible results

According to the directions on the package you rehydrate the recommended daily amount according to bodyweight in warm water and oil. Let seep for ten minutes and mix with their food…

WHY ADD OIL? –

Vitamin A is a far-soluble vitamin and the addition of a small amount of oil will aid the conversion process.

Good oils to use are –

  • Extra Virgin Coconut – this is what I use
  • Flaxseed
  • Olive
  • Fish

Olewo currently sells –

  • Carrots –  for nourishment and healing
  • Red Beetsfor cleaning and protection

If any of this is of interest to you, I highly recommend you visit their website. I haven’t tried the red beets yet, I’m going to stick with the carrots for now.

Reasonably priced, I ordered a 1lb bag for $14.95 from Chewy(dot)com #justsaying

Both Harley and Jaxson continue to lick their empty bowls well after their food is gone – so I guess they like it mixed with their dinner.  That’s makes me feel good – because all I want is to do right by them, that’s all I want.

There is only one happiness in this life, to love and be loved ❤️

Hmmm…my mom won’t eat carrots unless they are mixed into her food, and we won’t eat them either. I wonder if these could be mixed with our food and eaten? Interesting thing to try. Thanks for the eye opener.

So far so good – they are a real hit here in Doodleville Emma. Tell your mom to give them a try!

Sam would have wanted his fur set on fire before eating a carrot, blueberry, or green bean. Then Elsa moved in and much like Paul Harvey, the rest of the story is just a memory. If she’s eating them, he wants ’em! The only downside to carrots is they are high glycemic. But with the amount of high quality food and exercise, a couple bites now and then is just fine.

Hi Monika – I know what you mean – Harley was like that with apples, until Jaxson arrived. Now he’s first in line when we get one out of the fridge. Carrots don’t have a big impact on blood glucose levels – unless you’re going to eat a HUGE amount at one sitting. They’re getting the Olewo rehydrated carrots three times a week. Steamed broccoli and cauliflower the other four days. They’re actually eating better than I am LOL

Interesting – I never heard of these! Luke likes to eat a raw carrot, and I like him to have it because they say it helps clean their teeth. But Cricket will have nothing to do with most raw vegetables, but will eat cooked carrots so she might like these.
I prefer fresh veggies from our garden, but that’s only available a couple months of the year, so we need other options!
