SUN DOG CAT MOON

Sun Dog Cat Moon is the name of our new secondary veterinary clinic…

SUN DOG CAT MOON

That hot mess express called “detox” is finally over!! The goat smelling doodle is gone and my babies are looking good!…

SUN DOG CAT MOON

They are still consuming the alternative to raw ZIWI Peak dog food, and their coats are thick and ultra fluffy. Their energy level is off the chain – but it’s not going to “cure” Harley’s environmental allergens.

So I’ve been on the hunt for an alternative to conventional medicines for dogs!

HOLISTIC / CHINESE CARE –

We believe in seeing a specialist for ourselves when it comes to health care so why not for our pets?

Sun Dog Cat Moon came highly recommended –

At Sun Dog Cat Moon, we fully believe in the strength of medicine, and while this approach is often sufficient for treating pet illnesses and emergency situations, there is more that can be done to treat chronic conditions like arthritis, autoimmune problems, organ failure, or debilitating diseases. We integrate all available proven modalities to ensure your pet receives the best and most thorough care.

In our years of experience with animals, we’ve seen countless examples of the power of an integrated approach and how it can transform pet health and happiness. By using simple and cost-effective methods such as harnessing the healing power of food, exercise, and making improvements to a pet’s environment, you have the ability to achieve optimal pet wellness. So I gave them a call, grilled them over the phone and called back a few days later to make ta consultation appointment.

A lengthy exam for both Dood’s proved what I suspected –

  • Harley is in great shape for his age but does have chronic environmental allergens
  • Jaxson has allergies also, but not nearly as debilitating as Harley.

THE WAY AHEAD –

Dr. Kellie drew diagrams and gave detailed information with her diagnosis. I appreciated her use of laymen terms making it easier to digest and comprehend.

She of course suggested “allergy testing” but I declined. That’s just not in the budget right now. #keepingitreal

Turns out she was able to relate. She said I sounded a lot like her sister who once told her –

Kellie, I’ve got a family, bills, and life stuff. I don’t have $$ for allergy testing, just fix my pet!

Right then and there I knew we were a pawfect match.

The ear infections and areas of constant scratching and itching are classic environmental symptoms although we can’t be 100% sure w/o testing.

Scratching and itching, she described are “secondary” symptoms due to what’s going on inside which is “primary.” #makessense

We’ve got to address the primary with conventional treatments (antibiotics). Then we can look at holistic methods to strengthen the primary which will reduce or rid him of the secondary. #stillwithme

We’re due back in two weeks (once the antibiotic regimen is completed).

It’s been six days now and I like what I DON’T see – alot of scratching and licking!

I’m tickled to Doodle with our plans for a more natural approach to keeping these allergens at bay.

In another one of her diagrams, she touched on a holistic way to re-build his immune system.

But first – we’re focusing on the “primary.”

I intend to maintain a relationship with their other Doodle Doc.

He will administer their preventative care for two reasons –

  • I like and trust him.
  • He’s so much cheaper!

Sun Dog Cat Moon does it all –

  • Preventativeto include dentistry, surgery, and diagnostics
  • Chinesetherapies like; nutritional, herbal, massage, acupuncture, food, laser, and meditation

But they require me to dig deep in my pockets. #downtothestitching

No need to dig deep for an annual physical or immunizations. #youfeelme

LIVING AND LEARNING –

Dr Kellie and I touched on nutrition just a bit – she suggested I increase their fiber intake with Cauliflower…

SUN DOG CAT MOON Apparently cauliflower has vitamins and antioxidants that help reduce inflammation and support digestive health.

Small portions, not everyday and she prefers I offer it cooked vs. raw…

Stay with us, as I share more high in fiber veggies that I introduce to the Boys.

Have you thought about holistic veterinary care for your pets?

I cherish being a pet parent –  ❤️

Yes, absolutely, many times! But the cost and distance to travel for us has held me off. I love our hometown vet, but I know that there is more out there than he is open to.
I like that Dr. Kellie is willing to combine traditional medicine with holistic to get the best result. Someone open minded like that would be my choice too!
I look forward to hearing more about the veggies you choose….Luke LOVES veggies!

Jan K and I are on the same wave length here – have thought about it but the cost and distance make it prohibitive. And our vet is not quite as open to it as I’d like; but I love and trust him. He has taken excellent care of all my furkids over the last 20 years.

If you don’t already have one, get a food steamer. I cook all our fresh vegetables in mine. It’s great!

I have a steamer. They ate some steamed veggies for dinner again today. They love it. I put off going to a holistic vet because of the money, but Harley was in a very bad way and I had to do something. I cannot believe the difference in just two short weeks. I am going for a follow up on Saturday – can’t wait to hear what’s next now that the infection is gone. I’ll keep you posted and share all that I learn.

I also have used conventional and holistic vet care. Honey’s current vet is traditional but she supports other methods for health and had referred us to other practitioners.

    I think anything that works.

Good that the allergies are becoming less of a problem. Hope both boys can be freed from them for good.

Holistic pet care is not in the financial cards for me now that I’m in retirement but my vet understands and tries to accommodate that limitation. Good luck with yours and hopefully there will be more progress with your sweet boys.

Holistic pet care is hard on the working humans to Monika. I had that discussion with her too! It was hilarious. Headed back tomorrow for his f/u. Dr. Kellie doesn’t see another outrageous bill for this visit. Harley’s been showing major signs of relief so I cannot complain too much about the money. Can’t keep it up – but will hang on in there as long as I can. Keep you posted and will definitely share all that I learn. Happy Holidays.
