BEEF BALL TREATS

This weekend I made the Boys a batch of Beef Ball treats made with “Love”…

BEEF BALL TREATSSure my heart was in it, but that’s not the only love I was referring to.

The Honest Kitchen makes a beef dehydrated grain free dog food called – Love! #agroovydoodlefavorite

Love Beef balls are bite-sized treats (grain and gluten free) that remind me of those cocktail meatballs you whip up when weekend guests come over to play cards, watch sports, or just #hangout

BEEF BALL TREATS

This would be my second attempt at preparing homemade treats.

You may remember my Mango and Banana Freeze Pops also from The Honest Kitchen. I was “tickled to Doodle” to find out so many people enjoyed making them for their pups.

COMMENTS LIKE THESE MAKE OUR DAY –

Tried the pops and my doodle loved them! My girls are finally taking to them. What fruit can we substitute when mangos are no longer available? It stays hot down south a LONG time! – Peggi Duncan

THK recipes are extremely easy. They’re also NOT time consuming NOR expensive. And unlike other treats I’ve failed at, so far what I’ve made – they’ve gobbled up.

I’m also learning more about the benefits dogs receive from certain human foods, like –

  • Green Peasare a good source of the B vitamin Thiamin, phosphorous, and potassium
  • Parsley & Rosemaryare safe spices to use
    • Parsleyhelps freshen a dogs breath, and also has vitamin C,K,and B, carotenoids, iron and limonene (and oil that kills bad mouth bacteria)
    • Rosemaryis high in iron, calcium, and Vitamin B6, as well as being flavorful.

Here’s what I used…

BEEF BALL TREATS

HERE’S WHAT I DID –

  • Combined ground beef, love beef recipe and broth in large bowl.
  • Mashed the peas and one egg in the food processor
  • Added the mashed pea mixture along with the cheese, parsley and rosemary to the beef mixture
  • With a tablespoon (I used my fingers) roll into balls, and place on baking sheet.
  • Bake for 35-40 minutes at 375 F degrees
  • Cool and serve

*Keep refrigerated in air tight container for freshness

THIS ONE’S FOR YOU –

I know somewhere out there – someone struggles (just like me) making treats for their pups. It may sound crazy but when your pet doesn’t like your homemade treats – it’s hard to accept #devadoodlestating

I know..

…I’ve been there 🙁

So I’m coming out from behind the camera and sharing video footage to inspire those like me – to jump up – pump that fist in the air and shout –

I’M GONNA JUST DOODLE DO IT!

Let THK help – visit their RECIPE PAGE, they’ve got lot’s of fun recipes. And please let us know how they turn out. #inquiringminds

Don’t be afraid of change – it’s leading you to a new beginning❤️

They sound pretty tasty and seems to me they are meatballs with a twist. Nice work on the video too!

Great post! Loved seeing you in the video. And, I agree there is nothing worse than making a special treat and the doodles turn their noses up! But I have a good feeling that Beef Balls would be a hit with my two! Thanks Cathy.

Deirdre, you’ve got to try the beef balls. Super easy and my Boys loved them. I even crumble them up over their breakfast!

I love this recipe and you’ve given me an idea for making fat balls for Rodrigo who needs to put on a few pounds. Thanks so much. Anything that’s easy to do is for me.

That’s devotion! I gave my dogs a couple of raw meatball this morning as a way to sneak them their pills! I should try cooking them.

It would be interesting to see if your dogs would enjoy the cooked ones and if mine would eat them raw.

These sound like a delicious treat! Honest Kitchen makes great foods. I wish my kitties were more fond of them. Cats are super picky about food textures. I have a feeling that Harley and Jax are hardly going to be able to wait for these meatballs to be ready!

Love Honest Kitchen. Making a meatball dog treat with HK would probably make a dog really happy. Thanks for the inspiration.

They smell A-mazing. Reminded me of those cheddar sausage bisquick balls we used to make years ago. I liked the way it made the kitchen smell.

Meatballs for nosework! I have a Nosework trial on Saturday and I typically buy the meatballs at CostCo for rewards. Now I have something novel that I can make that’s actually FOR the dogs. I had no idea –these HK recipes, are you developing them or are they on the back of the product?

Mr. N would be just as happy (if not more so) if I just threw him a chunk of meat vs me making anything for him so I don’t cook for him very often!

Harley and Jaxson used to feel that way too! That’s why I like THK recipes, it makes me look like a gourmet chef to them LOL

I’d LOVE to make these for the girls; however…

There is a certain male human in the house who does not know the meaning of the phrase “everything in moderation”, so I’ve had to remove ALL “people food” from the girls’ treats list. I hated to do it, but their digestive systems have stabilized and they both are feeling much better.

    • Cathy Bennett
      September 25, 2016

I think I’ve got your solution – make tiny beef balls. The male human will think he’s giving them many – when in fact he really won’t be. Make the balls for your girls – they’ll love them.

Great job on the video! I love making homemade treats for the crew, even though I don’t have the time as often as I’d like. I also love to use fresh herbs from my garden….parsley and basil are my favorites, and I do have some rosemary too. Anything that makes it easier, like using THK ingredients, is perfect in my book!

      September 25, 2016

Thanks JanK – It was more fun than I thought would be. My treats in the past were horrible. The Boys really didn’t like them, hurt my feelings 🙁 Using THK recipes and ingredients have been total success in our house now.
