The PBN (what Harley and I call the “pet blogging network“) is like a 24 hour cable station hosting talented writers who share their adoration for pets! Over the years I’ve become enamored with a number of blogs which I desperately try to read regularly. So when Pamela from “SOMETHING WAGGING THIS WAY COMES” wrote a post about a month ago inviting pet bloggers to participate in the “Third Annual Pet Blogger’s Gift Exchange” I signed up immediately…
This would be a “virtual” gift exchange. A way to acknowledge, encourage, compliment and “link” love to other pet bloggers during the holiday season. Made sense to me – after all – this is that time of year 🙂
- I’m “randomly” matched with another blogger
- During the month of December, I’m to shower my exchange partner with virtual gifts from the heart
I was eager and excited. Come on “Elf Pamela” – bring me my gift partner!
A couple of weeks later, I was paired with Janet Keefe of New Hampshire. Creator of WAG N WOOF PETS…
This was pawfect! Wag n Woof Pets are part of my reading assemblage…
I was thrilled with my randomly selected gift partner. Janet Keefe brings humor, love and beneficial information. She shares her experiences through her writing with such passion.
Many of her photo’s are truly worth “a thousand words“...
To me, reading is like spending time with a friend. Think about it – you become submersed in their words while their sentences create pictures in your mind. Like sitting on your porch sharing stories on a quiet afternoon.
JanK (as she refers to herself) – has become that friend to me. A part time bookkeeper and blogger, she’s loved animals all her life. Presently she and her husband have three dogs; a golden retriever, a beagle, and a lab mix as well as two cats.
With several pets to write about – she has carefully crafted a way to give each furry furrend equal time with their own unique stories.
Her feline family consists of Samantha – a gorgeous black cat born in June 2002. In CAT TAILS you quickly realize Ms. Samantha tries to rule the roost and seems to have an opinion about everybody else!…
Conrad on the other hand, is the shy one. When she first brought him home, Conrad spent all of his nights sleeping in their cable box. This only ended the day her hubby decided to clean the box out. After that Conrad was no longer interested. He has since become a little more social and can be found testing different dog beds on occasion.
Cricket is Janet’s reactive beagle, who I learned a great deal about when I read LITTLE DOG, BIG ATTITUDE, Janet’s heart didn’t stand a chance with this little lady!
From what I surmise – Luke arrived around this time last year. Based on a progress report WEEK 1 W/LUKE, he seemed he fit right in with everyone quite nicely.
SHEBA TURNED 10 this past October and if you look at her photos through the years, she seems to have maintained her same pawdorable smile in all of them! They tease her – they call her QUEEN SHEBA, but to be honest, it suits her well. I wouldn’t be surprised if she didn’t come from a lineage of royalty…
Many of us have felt the emptiness and sorrow from the loss of a four legged family member. It is devastating and somewhat debilitating in an indescribable way. To say “farewell” twice in less than a year requires much strength and faith knowing you will see them again. Even through two losses, JanK continued to write…
Here’s what else I found out –
Janet started Wag n Woof Pets with her first post appropriately titled WELCOME in August 2012. It was here she declared her blog to be about pets, with an “emphasis on dogs.” I like that she is open, honest, and invites her readers to suggest topics of interest to her which she says she will be happy to research!
Like myself, she didn’t have dogs in her life growing up. There were a couple of cats that never seemed to stay long, and one rather mean parakeet named “Perky” who bit anyone who dared to take him out of his cage. She goes on to share how she became who she is today in A SPIRITUAL AWAKENING OF SORTS.
I smile when I see her photos – like the one in FIRST SNOW OF THE SEASON where she’s captured all the fun during an impromptu romp…
I will cherish my gift from Janet. Her post about “Groovy Goldendoodles” titled: GET YOUR GROOVY ON was Doodletacular! #loveditJanK Please take a moment to read it and experience something wonderfully entertaining about us!
Then visit WAG N WOOF PETS for yourself. You’ll thank me, I’m sure!
JanK is also very social – you can find her on FB Twitter Pinterest, and more.
Much Doodle love to Pamela for this annual celebration of writers. #thankyou
Now Doodle hop on over to some of the other participants in this spirit filled holiday Pet Bloggers Gift Exchange.

Emma, I love that I get to live vicariously through your brother Bert, and now JanK with Samantha and Conrad. Love all those furry finicky felines. Have a wonderful Christmas holiday!

Thank you SO MUCH for your kind words, Cathy! It’s the perfect Christmas gift and I’ll cherish it. One thing I never anticipated when I first started a blog is what this community is all about, and I never knew I’d be making great friends like you! What a bonus! I get to live my dream of being a writer, but it’s turned out to be so much more than that.
You hit on each of the pets’ personalities perfectly! Luke came home with us exactly one year ago today, and you just made my day even more special.
And a huge hug and thanks for including “the boys” Kobi and Moses. They are still so greatly missed and I love it when they still get the attention they deserve. I know how much you get it because of Leo…we want their memories to live on forever.
I think Pamela had the best idea ever when she came up with this gift exchange!

You are so “on the nose” with your post. I don’t find that reading every blog is like spending time with a friend. But definitely Jan’s is (and yours).
You really captured the love she has for her little family that comes through in every blog post.
I’ve enjoyed reading Wags and Woofs for years. And you still managed to make me fall in love with it all over again.
What a great Pet Blogger’s Gift Exchange post, Cathy. I’m so thrilled you joined us. And that you did such a great job introducing Jan and her blog to new readers.

Ann, I thought the same thing when I got the email. I had been a regular reader of JanK for a while, so it was exciting to do my investigative reporting for the challenge.

From what you describe here, JanK sounds like someone I’d really like to get to know! I’ll be following her blog now. Thanks for sharing!
