A DOODLE’S BALL GAME

It was Monday January 2nd, the legal “New Years” holiday. My husband and I had the day off from work and I wanted to purchase a couch at Costco, but Lee wanted to take the boys to the park and let them “run.” I thought it was a great idea until I realized he wanted me to go with them. Look, I’m all for “family fun” but it was 39 degrees that day and the sun was somewhere else – it wasn’t in the sky – there was NO SUN! I bundled up the best I could, and I looked just like the little boy from the movie “ A Christmas Story” (what was his name? Ralphie?). I was layered down with the warm-up, scarf, hat, hoodie, mittens, and boots. I grabbed the “travel stuff” – leashes, poop bags (like a girl scout must be “ever ready”), treats (in case they start to wander), and balls (can’t expect them to “create fun”)…

It never fails, no matter how much “junk” I tote, Lee will ALWAYS ask me for something I do NOT have, and this day, in the car, he didn’t fail me… I forgot the water!

We arrive at the park, and Lee proudly points out that we have the entire place to ourselves. I love this man, so I don’t remind him of the temperature. Once we find the perfect place for them to “let loose”, I forget all about the weather, as I watch them “play.” CORRECTION – as I watch “Leo” play… OMG, I know Harley’s a little older but my ” Frank Sinatra Doodle” gives a whole new meaning to doing it “My Way.”

I’ve been working (not too consistently I confess) on the art of “playing catch” with them, and they each have their own balls (sized accordingly of course). From the looks of these videos, one of them needs “private training” (I’ll let you figure out who!)

Have you ever seen such a thing?

PS: the noise you hear in the background would be the sound of 39 degree winds!

After that it was just time to grab our stuff and go home….

Thanks for reading, and now you can follow the boys camp adventures on Facebook and Twitter.
