SPRINGFIELD DAYS | GROOVY GOLDENDOODLES

Springfield Days is a community-wide celebration that takes place the weekend after Memorial Day each year in Springfield, VA…

It’s two days of activities for everyone at any age, with or without a tail.

There’s:

  • the 5K run and Small Business Expo
  • pet fest
  • car show
  • farmers market
  • movie in the park (which begins at dusk)

And on Sunday they hold a cardboard boat regatta!

The PetFest starts at 9:00am and we love to be there to support our sponsors: Olde Towne Pet Resort

The Doodle "Aunties"

The Doodle “Aunties”

AND our furrends from Colonial Animal Hospital and Felix & Oscar Pet Food.

It was a picture perfect day, not a cloud in the sky, dozens of vendors, and hundreds of people with pets…

EVERYTHING was PAWfect

EVERYTHING was PAWfect

Of course we brought “Wilson” with us. Leo is so focused on that ball, it’s made recall training much easier. He prefers to walk off leash whenever he can, and when possible we let him. Reading other pet bloggers like –Something Wagging This Way Comes,  has taught me great techniques on what not to do resulting in tremendous improvement with his recall…

So far - very good recall

Harley on the other hand may never get to experience this sort of freedom away from the house – BOL

I could literally hang out with pets and their “people” for hours. I  always feel this giant connection between us all. Imagine being in a place where everyone is kind, pleasant, caring, sharing, and smiling. Imagine if the whole world could be like that…

It's a beautiful thing - how pets can connect us

This year’s special guest at PetFest was Diane Roadcap, a Pet Communicator. To be honest I hadn’t heard of her before (gotta love Google). “Diane has a spiritual connection with animals. She receives communications from animals and can easily read their needs and wants, humor and insights aches and ailments.”

Curiosity had the best of me, and I was getting excited with the thought of learning what Harley was thinking and better yet, what he wanted to tell me – if given the chance. Unfortunately for me, the line to sit with this lady was entirely too long ALL day long…

Perhaps our paths will cross again affording me another opportunity to meet her. I did however, find an interview from last summer (I really like Google!) where Diane demonstrates her ability to communicate with two dogs….

This really turned out to be one of those low maintenance, easy going, fun and memorable Saturdays…

Harley borrowed $1.00 from me to pay for a kiss at the Olde Towne Pet Resort kissing booth…

Just joking about the $1.00 - Dixie's kisses are always FREE

And my personal favorite? Hands down – the twerking pups, jamming to a song by WAR

How was your Saturday?

Have a DOODLE*TASTIC Monday, don’t let anybody steal your joy!

I had an animal communicator come to my house!! I so recommend it! It’s a little “out there,” I know, but I will tell you … it was fascinating! Dash was very into Rebecca. When she arrived she told me that Dash said to her “I heard you were coming, I need to tell you a few things” (I am paraphrasing but it cracked me up because I told Dash in the morning that Rebecca was coming and he shouldn’t be afraid of her) .. .She was so wonderful. I loved it! Looks like your day was wonderful. I agree about hanging with dog folks –the only way to go!! Happy Day! Doodles are the best!

Oh, I would totally do it, but I just couldn’t stand in the line. It was taking what seemed like hours to get through each person. Now that I know the lady is from this area, I’m bound to run into her again before too long and I think I would find it interesting to listen to what she has to tell me. How cool though for you to have had an opportunity for someone to come to your home. Barks licks and tail wags to Dash & Lilly

Looks like fun. There aren’t many pet friendly events around our area. I bet that woman in the kissing booth was pretty excited about that kiss! Don’t feel bad, Harley. Bailie and I will always be on leash. Being scent hounds and avid hunters, we can’t be trusted. Our recall is great unless we are onto something.

Oh Emma, I’m so sorry you don’t have a lot of pet events in your area. Harley loves to go and meet new friends and kiss strange ladies 🙂 Maybe Harley is secretly a scent hound and that’s why he can’t be off the leash in public places – hummmm I’ll have to look into that one 🙂 Take care you gorgeous gal…

Hello Anu – Yes it was tremendous fun, and a huge success. We try to make this event every year because it’s such a nice relaxing way to spend a Saturday with the Boys.

Jen – you and Mort would have had a blast, Mort would have loved the open area. I look forward to meeting the communicator one day – it will be a treat to find out what Harley has to say. Take care – continue to get better Mort. The Boys are pulling for you 🙂

What a fun day. I’m especially thrilled about the pet celebration.

We celebrated the Ithaca festival this week but it’s not at all pet friendly.

BTW, don’t ever lose “Wilson.” There’s nothing better than a great recall aid. 🙂

Hey Pamela – there is no way we could survive a “Wilson” loss. Leo would be a basket case for sure 🙂 Thanks for reading, come back and visit us again soon 🙂
