SAME COUCH JUST NEW RULES

There’s a couch game going on in my house. It’s the same couch just new rules and I for one am thoroughly confused. What once was off limits while living in Virginia now seems to be “Doodles choice” here in Charleston…

SAME COUCH - NEW RULES

LET ME EXPLAIN –

We purchased two identical couches for the “family room” when we lived in VA. I’m sure we had a good reason (it escapes me now) when we mutually agreed these particular pieces of furniture would be off Doodle limits.

They respected the rule, and there may have been one or two infractions once someone arrived #Jumpingjaxdoodleflash

Because of the Charleston renovations, 75% of our belongings are sitting in storage, but these couches are rather long, so we brought them into the house.

Who knew the same couch in a different house would inspire new rules? I just assumed their long term memory would kick in #nothappening

WHAT IN THE DOODLE? –

Surprised by their behavior, Lee took these photos. The Boys are no saints, they have their moments. But – when taught something, they are very obedient.

Bet you’d laugh too if you asked your dogs –

What are you all doing up there?

And you got this look that Jaxson gave Lee. As if he wanted to bark out a response…

Realizing it was late afternoon, it became pretty apparent what was driving them to get up there day after day.  They were waiting for me….

Even though dogs do not have what we consider the concept of time doesn’t mean they are completely stuck in the moment.

This supports (in favor) the canine version of episodic memory theory.

SO WHAT NOW? –

Well – I intend to nip this one in the bud. Yes indeed.

Over the weekend I plan to –

  • move the couch from in front of the window
  • re-arrange my living room
  • purchase a very nice window bench (with a cushion of course) so they can be comfy in their new favorite doodle spot!

Lee won’t admit it but I’m sure he’ll be on board with this tiny change to our front window decor. He’s the one that leaves them there to wait for me #doodlesofty…

Great post! Hilarious. Yep, doodle decisions and preferences are a real thing! I realized the other day that Dash jumps on a chair to see the driveway when I am coming home. This is not a doodle chair! But it works for him at that moment, which in his life is a very important moment. So… crazy dog lady I am!

Being a pet parent has got to be the coolest thing ever! Don’t you think so?

Who ever said you have to have three dogs to be a “crazy dog lady”?! When we added Ducky to the family, I became one; but just because Callie is a furry angel doesn’t mean I’ve lost that coveted status. Having Ducky around makes me a crazy dog lady whether her oldest sister is still physically alive or not. ❤️

That’s so true. Leo is always with me, however… I would LOVE, LOVE, LOVE to have all three physically causing chaos. Have a great week my friend.

Mom bought a leather bench for our front window in her office for us, you are just a normal dog mom!

I love it! I was out shopping today looking for a bench – still looking. Hugs to your mom!

Good luck with getting them off the furniture. The mom gave up trying to impose rules on us long ago. 🙂

I don’t want them off the furniture as much as I want to window bench. LOL

I do love coming home and seeing them there – believe me. But I still want my window bench! LOL

I love this post. Our dogs are allowed on the furniture; they have dog beds – they use those too. We tried to keep them off the sectional for a while but eventually gave up because that was something we should have started when they were puppies – not three years later.

Looking forward to seeing the re-organization 🙂
