PET FIESTA AT RESTON TOWN CENTER

It’s Saturday afternoon and we’re headed to this outdoor festival that brings together local businesses, animal rescue groups and pet owners for an exciting day of activities, demonstrations and animals galore. It’s a day of “pets and fun” for the whole family!

Little did I know that both Leo and Harley were going to be a little “under the weather” with loose stool, and lethargic behavior. On at least a half a dozen times, I changed my mind and declared this to be a “day at home”, but then they both would do something incredibly funny which would lead me to believe they were on the “road to recovery!”

So with my bag of tricks in tow, we loaded the boys up around noon and headed west to experience a “Pet Fiesta” http://www.petfiesta.org up close and personal….

The boys were too excited when we arrived…

Members of my family have “self-appointed” themselves with their own titles when it comes to the boys. Tiffany our daughter considers herself their “medical proxy” and my dear, dear, sweet husband takes on the role of “guardian”,  loosely translated means: “he decides what’s in their best interest when we take them out!” When we arrived the first thing he did was sit on the curb so they could “have a moment – take in the sights, and get acclimated to their surroundings”…..

I gave him a few minutes (as good wives would) then got him away from the curb and the boys were off and running, meeting new friends along the way. First up was the cutest little doodle puppy-full of energy and ready to romp around…

Next “meet & greet” was with a beautiful dalmatian, and we just had to spend sometime with him…

Hanging out on this particular corner brought the cutest set of twin girls over to see us…

And would you believe ANOTHER set after that?

We walked a bit and met up with “Savanna” the dachshund and her pet parent. Leo wasn’t that interested, but Harley was quite smitten by her…

There were so many people…

And so many pets!…

All TYPES of pets!…

Oodles and oodles of Doodles – so we invited them ALL to Doodle Day (see blog post dated May 3, 2012 )….

Towards the end of the day, everyone was trying to catch a little down time…

We didn’t stay a very long time, and we rested often. There was only one “poop-a-pa-looza” moment, but we still didn’t want to overdo it, so after a couple of hours we started our way back to the parking garage. It was then that I noticed the boys suddenly gained a little “pep” in their steps. Harley started prancing like a show horse, and Leo kept cutting in front of him. Why?… because of the “Princess” in front of them. They both reached and greeted her at the same time…

But after a few seconds of serious sniffing, she made her choice – HARLEY...

Poor Leo had to settle for me as the alternative female in his life that day. I petted his head as he watched his brother on a date…

By the time we got home, stretched our legs a bit in the yard playing with the ball, it was time for dinner and then they both took themselves upstairs, and straight to bed. I’m sure there were plenty of wonderful dreams…

The next day, their stomachs were fine, and we took the day a little easy – the “parents” on the other hand – were exhausted!!!
