HOME IS WHERE THE DOG TOYS ARE

I am happy to report that we’ve finally moved into our new residence last week…

Since then I’ve been unpacking, trying to establish some sense of normalcy around here. I’m super anxious to make this house like home.

After all – home is where the heart is, right? #soIthought

I expected the sight of familiar furnishings to excite the Boys as much as it thrilled me. #lovemyownbed

Sorry to say – but this was not the case. They sniffed their beds and could have cared less when their elevated food and water bowls appeared.

It took me a while but eventually I realized they were looking for “their” things. They wanted their toys.

Sounds like an easy task, but this took hours. The box wasn’t marked and there were a bunch of boxes to go through…

They sat – patiently – as if they knew I was on a major toy search. They watched my every move.

I was hungry, hadn’t eaten, but for the boys I wouldn’t stop because you see – here in Doodleville…

bbbI cut my toe, lost a fingernail, and my lower back is killing me #twoalleveplease

But it’s finally starting to feel like home! #success

Thanks Claudette – I’m trying to take it extra slow, no need to rush – now that the boys have their toys that is!

I love your new fireplace! Whenever I think of moving, I realize that packing 34 years of stuff would take almost another 20 years and I chicken out. I know that you are ready to have everything settled, but you have the important stuff like the dog toys out so all is well. ☺

It’s so exciting when you’re making a house a home. I love decorating and the challenge of making things work when maybe they aren’t perfect and finding a place for everything, including all the dog toys!

IT is a lot of fun Elaine. I like moving items to different rooms from where they were before. It gives me the false impression that I’ve purchased new accents to decorate LOL

    Cathy,

Welcome to your new home and I’m glad the boys have there toys. Maybe this will allow you to do some unpacking without them underfoot. But please take your time and don’t rush yourself remember Rome wasn’t built in a day

You are such a great doodle-mommy! Those boys have you wrapped around their paws. 🙂 I would do the same for my cats in a heart beat. Congrats on moving into your new home! I hope that it is as wonderful as you make it sound. 🙂

Thanks Robin, I too can see you doing the same thing for your two kitties. The house is fine, I’m just anxious to get rid of all the boxes and paper, but that will happen in due time. We’re having fun, and I’m learning to pace myself!

I think they did Jackie – they allowed me to take a nap later that afternoon, that was huge!

The toys seemed to bring it all together for them. I searched for the beds because they never looked comfy when they tried to take a nap, but that wasn’t what they were looking for. All is well here in Doodleville – finally!

Oh I feel your pain #LoveAleve . I moved again 9 months ago. Kilo loves his toys too and his crate and cushions. Plus his food bowls and treats LOL. Funny how they give such purpose to unpacking (maybe even slightly more than my human kids).

I’ve decided to take a different approach Jan, I refuse to stress over any of it. I do what I can, and then I let it go for later. I’m liking my new normal.
