It’s always a treat when Doodle Mom lets these paws near her laptop. She doesn’t do it often – rarely in fact, but I’m grateful when it occurs just the same. She was so pleased with my behavior Christmas Day, after dinner she told me I could write our holiday recap post.

I know many of you are still on “vacay” so I’ll be brief and let you get back to your activities.

One of Doodle Mom’s favorite seasonal tunes that she likes to jam to in the house is “Dashing Through The Snow.” She get’s “jiggy” with that jingle bell chorus part too. You should see her spinning around with Mr. Dyson (as in vacuum cleaner) –

OOPS! WHERE WAS I?

Oh yeah, while she was making coffee and hitting those high notes with the radio, I started opening my gifts…

By mid morning we were in route to meet my human siblings at my Grandma’s for Christmas dinner… I love visiting my Grandma and the rest of my friends at the Assisted Living Facility.

I’m getting pretty good at this whole “Therapy Dog” thing. I finally understand my job – and I’m doing it well. Like in Doodle Mom’s favorite song “Dashing Through The Snow.” – I’m “making spirits bright”…

Yes, those are my Grandma’s feet! Like my new snazzy Martingale Dog Collar?

It’s around noon thirty, I’m getting comfy and contemplating a nap, when we get a text message –

“HEADED TO THE ER”

It was Tiffany, my other human sibling. We gather our things, say our goodbyes and race to the car…

Thank the Doodle the emergency room wasn’t far. If you know my mom, then you know she doesn’t really like to leave me in the car. Doodle Dad, told her “go, I’ll stay with Harley.” They made her a badge, and she jogged down the corridor looking for her daughter…

Don’t ask me why there’s no photo…

No one ever “really” explained to me what was wrong with Tiffany, they talked in code. Said it was “private.” They did tell me she would be fine so I’m okay with no details.

But I bet you never saw anyone in the ER smiling so much…

WANNA KNOW WHY?

Doodle Mom went to the nurses station, told them I was a therapy dog, explained we had just come from visiting my Grandma, shared her concerns about leaving me in a cold parked car, and showed them my “credentials.”

BAZINGA, I was in…

The nurses loved stopping by to play with me…

And when they said Tiffany could go home, I showed them love right back…

Before we left they asked Mom if I could visit someone who didn’t feel well but would love to see me. He was a really, really nice man and they were right – he was happy to see me. There aren’t any pictures of that visit – Mom said “some things are meant to be private!” I do want to go back and visit again – and I think we will.

The rest of the day was full of laughter, good food, family and friends.
